Build a Ring Farm Mutations and Multipliers Explained

Mutations are the fastest way to multiply crop income in Build a Ring Farm. Each one attaches a single effect to a fully grown plant, changes how that plant looks, and raises its sale value by a fixed multiplier. There are 10 mutations in total, ranging from a modest 1.35x boost up to an 8x payout, and every one of them comes from either a server weather event or a spray bought in the Gear Shop.

💡
Quick answer: A plant can hold only one mutation at a time. Pick the highest multiplier you can reach, since a new mutation replaces the old one and there is no stacking.

The table below lists every mutation, its income multiplier, and how to apply it. Higher multipliers come from rarer events or far more expensive sprays, so most players climb this ladder gradually as their cash income grows.

MutationMultiplierHow to get
Wet
Wet
1.35xRain Event (8% chance) or Wet Spray from the Gear Shop for $10M Cash
Frozen
Frozen
1.75xBlizzard Event or Frozen Spray from the Gear Shop for $750M Cash
Autumn
Autumn
2.25xAutumn Spray from the Gear Shop for $850M Cash
Void
Void
2.25xBlack Hole Event (3% chance) or Void Spray from the Gear Shop for $1B Cash
Radioactive
Radioactive
3xNuclear Event (2% chance) or Radioactive Spray from the Gear Shop for $10B Cash
Alien
Alien
3.25xAlien Event (2.5% chance)
Farm
Farm
4xTrucker Event (1.5% chance) or Trucker Spray
Rainbow
Rainbow
5xGalaxy Event (1% chance) or Rainbow Spray from the Gear Shop for $1T Cash
Honeycomb
Honeycomb
6.5xQueen Bee Event (0.5% chance)
Cosmic
Cosmic
8xCosmic Spray. Costs 25T Cash in the Gear Shop or 25,000 Plant Tokens in the Plant Rush shop

Cosmic is currently the strongest mutation at 8x, and it is spray-only, so it can be placed on any unmutated crop without waiting for an event. Honeycomb (6.5x), Alien (3.25x), and Farm (4x) are tied to specific events, which makes them harder to land but free.

How crops get mutated

Mutations land on plants in two ways. The first is weather events, which begin on the server roughly every 10 to 15 minutes. A countdown appears at the top of the screen, but the event name is hidden, so you may have to wait through several cycles before a specific weather type shows up. When an event runs, every fully grown crop on your farm has a chance to receive that event's mutation.

The second way is sprays from the Gear Shop. Buy the spray you want, equip it, walk up to a grown crop, and apply it for a guaranteed mutation. Sprays are the only way to choose exactly which mutation a particular plant gets.

One requirement is easy to miss. Seeds sitting in your inventory cannot mutate. You have to plant them and let them grow into fruits or vegetables first, because only grown crops are eligible during an event or for a spray.

⚠️
Mutations never apply while you are offline. Event rolls only happen for crops on your farm while you are actively in the game, so longer sessions during events give you more chances.

Admin Abuse events

The developers can trigger several weather events back to back during Admin Abuse, a weekly celebration that runs after an update goes live. Because multiple events fire in a short window, this is the best stretch for landing high-value mutations on a full farm. Keep every plot planted with grown crops before it begins so nothing is wasted.

Removing and replacing a mutation

Since a plant holds only one mutation, swapping to a better one takes a removal first. The Acid Spray clears whatever mutation is currently on a crop and costs $1,000,000 Cash from the Gear Shop.

Step 1: Buy the Acid Spray from the Gear Shop and equip it. Use it on the plant carrying the weaker mutation to strip it back to an unmutated state.

Step 2: Apply your preferred mutation spray, or leave the crop unmutated and wait for the matching weather event to roll a new one.

This matters because a strong mutation can be overwritten by a weaker one. A Radioactive plant caught in a Rain Event could drop to Wet, so clear and reapply deliberately rather than leaving high-value crops exposed during low-tier weather.

Which mutation to prioritize

Multipliers apply to a crop's base value, so the same mutation is worth far more on a high-rarity plant than a cheap one. Put your best sprays on your most valuable crops, and save event luck for them too. Early on, accept any free event mutation to speed up income. As your cash grows, climb toward Void, Radioactive, Rainbow, and eventually Cosmic on your top earners.

The cheapest reliable path is buying Wet for $10M, then stepping up to Void at $1B and Radioactive at $10B as your income allows. Rainbow ($1T) and Cosmic (25T Cash or 25,000 Plant Tokens) are endgame purchases that pay off only when stacked on already high-value harvests.
