Build an Ant Empire is a Roblox colony game built around a simple money engine. You hatch ants, place them in your nest, let them churn out boxes of food, and sell that food for Cash. Every bit of that Cash flows back into eggs, upgrades, and items that make the next cycle pay out more. The whole point is scale, pushing a handful of common workers toward a colony that produces billions of Cash at a time.
Quick answer: Interact with the Ant Queen to roll and buy eggs, place ants in colony slots so they produce food, sell that food for Cash, then spend Cash on egg luck and egg roll upgrades first.

The core loop: roll, collect, sell, upgrade
Everything in the game runs on one repeating cycle, and understanding it makes every early decision obvious. It breaks into two halves. The first is getting ants and placing them. The second is expanding the colony with the Cash they earn.
The Ant Queen lays eggs that you can purchase to get additional ants. Her default roll is one Common egg, and the ant inside becomes your starting worker. Assign it to an empty colony slot. You begin with one slot available; purchase further slots, with each one costing more than the previous slot.
Once ants are placed, they generate food that piles up as boxes at the collection station. You take those boxes to the Sell station and turn them into Cash. That Cash pays for the upgrades that expand the colony, which raises how much you earn per cycle. The trap to avoid is running your Cash dry, since every upgrade level costs more than the one before it. Keep a steady income going so you can always afford the next step.

Getting new ants from the Ant Queen
Your ants set the value of the food they produce, so upgrading your roster is the fastest way to grow your income. You do that through the Ant Queen. Rolling eggs is free, but buying the ants those eggs produce costs Cash, so always keep some money in reserve for the purchase itself.
Use an ant’s rarity as a quick gauge of its food production: greater rarity means a stronger ant. Certain ants have Mutations as well, providing additional effects and efficiency multipliers beyond their base output. Choose an ant with top rarity or a Mutation ahead of an unmodified Common.

To roll for better ants, buy egg luck and egg roll upgrades early. They are among the cheapest upgrades, so you can stack them in bulk before your economy gets expensive.
Where to spend Cash: colony upgrades
Colony upgrades are bought with Cash from the upgrade boards, and every level you buy raises the price of the next one. Because of that climb, spend on the things that feed your income first. The table below lays out what each upgrade does.
| Upgrade | Effect |
|---|---|
| Colony expansion | Adds more room and slots for ants |
| Food value | Raises how much each box sells for |
| Ant speed | Ants produce food faster |
| Egg luck | Improves the odds of better ants |
| Egg rolls | Gives you more rolls at the Ant Queen |
Egg luck and egg rolls are the two to hit first. They are cheap early and they directly improve the quality of your ants, which lifts every future payout. Once your ant quality is climbing, move on to food value and colony expansion to widen the pipeline.

Potions, the Index, and mounts
Item Shop Potions
The Item Shop sells Potions that apply Mutations to an ant of your choice. Because you decide which ant gets the effect, save your strongest Potions for your most valuable ants. Potions run expensive, and the best ones will be out of reach for a while. Treat items as a secondary purchase and let colony upgrades take priority.
The Index
Discovering new ants and Mutations fills out the Index, and hitting certain totals unlocks reward milestones. These are one-time freebies for completing parts of your collection. Once you claim a reward, it will not come back, so grab them as you reach each threshold.
Mounts
You can train an ant into a mount by handing it to the mount training NPC. The training can succeed or fail, but either way that ant is gone from your colony afterward. A mount is only slightly faster than walking, and the teleport-to-nest button at the top of the screen already covers most of your travel. Think hard before giving up a productive ant for it.
Once you turn an ant over to the mount trainer, you cannot use it in your colony again, whether the training works or not.

How you know your colony is growing
Progress is easy to confirm. Placed ants steadily drop boxes at the collection station, selling those boxes bumps your Cash total, and buying upgrades visibly raises your production and expands your slots. When your income comfortably covers the rising cost of each next upgrade, the loop is working as intended and you can keep pushing toward a larger empire.
The game is free to play with no mandatory purchases, so you can build the whole colony at your own pace. If you want to jump in, it is available on the official Roblox game page.
