Call of Duty: Mobile x Honkai Impact 3rd Roguelike Mode Explained

The Season 8 collaboration adds a top-down roguelike shooter and a Quantum Platform teleporter event in Battle Royale.

The Season 8 collaboration adds a top-down roguelike shooter and a Quantum Platform teleporter event in Battle Royale.

The headline addition in Call of Duty: Mobile Season 8 — Against All Fate is a top-down roguelike shooter built around the Honkai Impact 3rd collaboration. Instead of standard first-person combat, you drop into an overhead arena, team up, and grind through waves of monsters until a final boss. Every run reshuffles your loot and upgrades, so no two attempts play out the same way.

Quick answer: Squads of up to three players fight monster waves across three selectable maps, collect Elite Chest upgrades, and take down a boss. There is also an Endless mode for survival runs and a separate Quantum Platform teleporter event in Battle Royale’s Isolated.

The roguelike top-down shooter mode

This mode swaps the usual perspective for a top-down view. You and up to two teammates pick one of three maps, each offering different difficulty levels, then hold out against swarming monsters. The pressure builds until you reach the map’s boss fight, which is where a poorly built squad tends to fall apart.

As you clear enemies you earn XP and hunt for Elite Chests. Those chests hand out the upgrades that define your run, and because drops and upgrade paths are random, your build changes every time you play. That randomness is the core roguelike hook. The right chain of upgrades can carry a run, while a weak roll forces you to adapt.

ElementWhat it does
Weapon TraitsModify how your weapon performs during a run
StigmataProvide build-shaping bonuses drawn from Elite Chests
ChipsAdd further upgrade effects to your loadout

Teamwork matters because downed players can be revived by teammates. If someone gets knocked out, stick together and pick them up. Losing a squadmate for too long thins out your firepower right when the waves get heaviest. There are also secret levels and hidden enemies to find, so exploration is rewarded on top of pure survival.

Endless mode

For a tougher test, Endless mode drops the boss finish line and instead throws increasingly difficult enemy waves at you. The goal is simple. Survive as long as possible. It is the mode to chase once you have learned which upgrade combinations hold up under sustained pressure.

Quantum Platform: the new Battle Royale POI event

Battle Royale gets its own limited-time addition on the Isolated map, called the Quantum Platform. It layers a co-op objective on top of the usual last-squad-standing fight, complete with Honkai Impact 3rd-inspired enemies.

Find and complete a contract that appears on the map. Its location is marked visually and called out to every player in the match, so expect company.
Finishing the contract points your squad to a teleporter. Defend that teleporter while it charges up, holding off both enemies and rival squads.
Once the teleporter is fully charged, step through the portal to reach the Quantum Platform. There you fight themed enemies while collecting high-quality loot, including special items tied directly to the collaboration.
Grab what you can, head back to the teleporter, and return to the main map to keep playing out the match to the end.

When you can play it

Season 8 — Against All Fate goes live on September 9 at 5:00 PM PT, which lands at 1:00 AM BST on September 10. Both new modes arrive with the update, so there is no separate unlock schedule to track for the core roguelike and Quantum Platform content. You can jump into the launcher through the official Call of Duty: Mobile site once the season is live.

How the modes fit into the wider collaboration

The two new modes sit inside a much larger crossover with HoYoverse’s Honkai Impact 3rd. The season adds story quests, a character encyclopedia, a collection system, and a dormitory lobby, alongside three Operator draws inspired by the game’s Valkyries. Those draws feature Rin Yoshida — Herrscher of Thunder, Siren — Herrscher of Flamescion, and Kestrel — Herrscher of Reason, each paired with a Legendary weapon.

There is also a first for the game in the form of a Mythic Weapons Series Armory offering three Mythic weapons at once, plus a Free Mythic Weapon Event that lets dedicated players earn one of the ISO Hemlock — Core of Thunder, Static-HV — Core of Fire, or BAL-27 — Core of Reason without spending. Between the roguelike arena, the Quantum Platform, and the standard multiplayer and Battle Royale playlists, the collaboration spreads across nearly every part of the game.
