Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s single-player campaign gives you something for every mission you finish. Clear all 16, from Mayhem to Greater Good, and you walk away with 16 unlocks for Multiplayer and DMZ. Difficulty doesn’t matter, so a Recruit run earns exactly what a Realism run does.
Quick answer: Finish each campaign mission on any difficulty to unlock its reward. All 16 together add up to eight Base Operators, five XP Tokens, a Calling Card, a Loading Screen, and an Emblem.
Modern Warfare 4 campaign rewards by mission
Campaign settings include New York and Paris, along with the Korean Peninsula and Mumbai. Each reward belongs to a specific mission and unlocks when you finish it. The mission select screen lists the reward beside each mission.

| 2 | Out in the Cold | New York, USA | No More Rules (Calling Card) |
| 3 | Following Orders | North Korea | Double XP Token |
| 4 | Hired Gun | Paris, France | Dallas (Base Operator) |
| 5 | Losing Ground | Hajin City, South Korea | Ready Line (Loading Screen) |
| 6 | Traffic | Paris, France | Luca (Base Operator) |
| 7 | Gone Dark | Mumbai, India | Gone Dark (Emblem) |
| 8 | Assassins | North Korea | Oh-Ji (Base Operator) |
| 9 | Survivors | North Korea | Double XP Token |

Operators account for half the rewards; XP boosts and three single-use cosmetics make up the other half.
| Reward type | Count | Missions |
|---|---|---|
| Base Operators | 8 | 1, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 |
| Double XP Token | 3 | 3, 9, 15 |
| Double Weapon XP Token | 2 | 11, 13 |
| Calling Card | 1 | 2 |
| Loading Screen | 1 | 5 |
| Emblem | 1 | 7 |
The story’s introduction order determines when Operators unlock: Cho, Dallas, Luca, Oh-Ji, Kal, Dunn, West, then Park. Last to unlock is Private Park, the young South Korean soldier central to the North Korean invasion storyline; he becomes available only after Greater Good. Activision has not revealed how long campaign XP Tokens last, so wait for a confirmed duration before scheduling a grind session.
What counts toward a reward, and what doesn’t
The rules here are simple. Finishing the mission is the only trigger. Everything else is extra.
- Any difficulty works: Recruit, Regular, Hardened, Veteran, or Realism.
- Veteran and Realism do not add any bonus rewards.
- The campaign is single-player only, with AI allies and no co-op.
- Campaign achievements are separate and don’t grant extra Operators or blueprints.
When campaign rewards work in Multiplayer and DMZ
Players who digitally pre-ordered or pre-purchased the Standard Digital Edition or Vault Edition could enter Campaign Early Access beginning October 16th on Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, Battle.net, Xbox on PC, Xbox Series X|S, or PlayStation 5. All 16 rewards can be earned now, but they cannot be equipped yet.
All 16 rewards are available in Multiplayer and DMZ when the full game launches on October 23rd, 2026. Digital pre-orders get DMZ Early Access on October 20th, but Activision hasn’t confirmed whether campaign unlocks will be accessible there before launch day. It’s expected that Operators will be absent during DMZ Early Access.
How long it takes to unlock every campaign reward
Your difficulty pick does most of the work here. Since rewards don’t depend on difficulty, Recruit is the fastest way to collect all 16.
| Goal | Approximate time |
|---|---|
| Story run, all 16 rewards | 6–9 hours |
| Story run, cutscenes skipped | About 1 hour less |
| Hardened, Veteran, or Realism | Longer, due to retries |
| All 18 achievements plus every mission | 16–18 hours |
Completionists still have extra tasks ahead. The campaign’s 18 achievements total 1,000 Gamerscore, and earning “Was it worth it?” requires finishing the entire campaign on Realism. Realism only opens after your first campaign completion, so clearing it on that setting takes a second playthrough. Some missions also contain optional challenges you might miss during a regular story run, including the collectibles in Following Orders and the open-world caches in Stranded.
How to check that a campaign reward unlocked
Open Campaign, then Mission Select, and highlight a finished mission. The mission details panel lists the reward and the difficulty you completed it on, such as “Difficulty Completed: Regular.” If a difficulty is listed, that mission’s reward is yours.
Once the full game launches on October 23rd, the items show up in their usual places. Operators appear in Operator selection, while No More Rules, Gone Dark, and Ready Line sit in the Calling Card, Emblem, and Loading Screen menus. The three Double XP Tokens and two Double Weapon XP Tokens land in your token inventory.
