Oil Rigs are one of the six contested territory types in Mini War, and they exist to push two numbers higher: your civilian cap and your income multiplier. Each server has exactly six of them, so they are a limited resource that players fight over, especially once mid-game scaling begins. Taking control of an Oil Rig is done the same way as any other point on the map, using military units to clear and hold it.

What an Oil Rig territory gives you
An Oil Rig is built for civilian scaling more than raw money. Compared with other territories, it has the single highest civilian bonus outside of the City, which makes it the backbone of any setup aimed at long farming sessions. Here is how it stacks up against the other capturable points.
| Territory | Civilians | Money multiplier | Extra bonus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Camp | +5 | +5% | None |
| Garrison | +10 | +15% | None |
| Lab | +15 | +20% | +5% Research Speed |
| Military Base | +15 | +20% | None |
| Oil Rig | +20 | +15% | None |
| City | +30 | +25% | None |
Civilians matter because factories do not run without workers assigned to them. More civilians means more workers, which means more output across every building you own. That is why an Oil Rig's +20 civilians is often worth more in practice than a slightly higher money multiplier elsewhere.
How to capture an Oil Rig
You need a working military before you can take territory, so build up your economy first and produce troops from military structures. Infantry alone can work, but tanks and air bombers clear defenders faster and reduce the chance of losing the point during a fight.
Step 1: Build your military buildings on purchased land and produce a force. Send infantry supported by tanks and bombers so the enemy has little room to defend or counterattack.
Step 2: Move your troops onto the Oil Rig you want. The territory transfers to you once you clear the existing holder and occupy the point.
Step 3: Hold the rig until it is fully yours. The bonuses apply instantly once ownership flips, and the civilian and money figures update on your base.

You know it worked when the territory shows as yours and your civilian cap and money multiplier climb. If the numbers do not change, you have not finished taking the point, or you have already hit your territory limit.
Territory limit: why you can't grab all six
Every player starts capped at 8 territories total, and you cannot exceed that limit even when open points are sitting on the map. Two research upgrades raise the ceiling, and together they bring it to the maximum of 10.
| Research | Effect |
|---|---|
| Conqueror | +1 Territory Limit |
| Emperor | +1 Territory Limit |
Because the cap is tight, every slot matters. Stacking six Oil Rigs means giving up slots that could go to Labs, Military Bases, or the City, so the decision comes down to what you want your base to do.

Is the Oil Rig worth it?
Oil Rigs are worth it when your goal is maximum civilian scaling and offline or AFK farming. The standard income build leans on Military Bases instead, but the civilian build is what loosens your worker bottleneck and lets late-game factories run at full output overnight.
| Setup | Territories | Total bonuses |
|---|---|---|
| Money (default meta) | 1 City, 6 Military Bases, 3 Labs | +165 Civilians, +205% Money, +15% Research Speed |
| Civilian (max scaling) | 1 City, 6 Oil Rigs, 3 Labs or Military Bases | +195 Civilians, +175% Money, +15% Research Speed |
The civilian setup trades roughly 30% of the money multiplier for 30 extra civilians. That trade favors players who are leaving the game running with heavy factories like Nuclear Reactors, Data Centers, or Blackhole Generators, where more workers translate directly into more material per hour. If you are still climbing the research tree, keep three Labs in your flex slots for the +15% research speed rather than filling them with extra income points.
For most players still building economy and research, the balanced money setup remains the steadier choice. Switch to the six-Oil-Rig civilian build once your research is mature and your priority shifts to overnight farming, where the higher civilian cap does the heavy lifting.
