Castlevania Belmont’s Curse: Early Crypt Key Relic Location Guide

The Crypt Key is among the earliest relics you can find in Castlevania Belmont’s Curse. Look for it in a chest inside the Seer’s Hovel in Paris Streets, a ruined building reached from the Burned District. From the nearest Mirror of Life checkpoint, the trip takes about two minutes. Opening any chest while carrying the relic brings Rose back to full health and mana.

Quick answer: From the Mirror of Life by the Court of Miracles, cross the bridge into the Burned District and enter the red-lit building door. Drop to the cellar, climb the left side, and open the chest above the entrance.

Crypt Key location: Route from the Mirror of Life

In Paris Streets, travel to or rest at the Mirror of Life checkpoint. The map shows it beside the Court of Miracles and Burned District labels, near the Bridge of the Millers.

Leave the checkpoint room and step out onto the outdoor bridge. This bridge leads into the Burned District.

Speak with the Spirit on the bridge. You can get the relic without doing this, but the Spirit gives you a clue about The Warrior tarot card as you go by. The Spirit says, “The Warrior stormed the tower… we trapped her atop… but then the flames… took us…”

Push through the Burned District at ground level. Zombies, bats and ranged enemies attack along the way. Keep going until you reach a ruined building with lanterns and a red-lit door on a raised platform.

Jump up onto the platform and use the interaction prompt on the red-lit door to go inside.

Entering the Building — The entrance to the Seer's Hovel. The chest you want is on a balcony directly above this door. Shown at 01:14 in Shark R’s video. Image: KONAMI

Drop through the floor openings until you land in the bottom cellar. Zombies wait down here, and yellow sludge drips from above.

Head left along the cellar, avoiding the dripping sludge and the spike pits. Clear any zombies in your way.

At the far left, wall-jump and use the wooden ledges to climb toward the ceiling. Get past the spike hazards on the upper platform.

Cross the upper level back to the right until you reach the balcony above the door you came in through. Open the treasure chest there to collect the Crypt Key.

Confirm and equip the Crypt Key

When you open the chest, the relic’s name and description appear on screen. After that, the Crypt Key is listed in the Relics menu. Select it there and use the “HOLD TO EQUIP” prompt to place it in one of Rose’s three relic slots. The effect only applies while the relic sits in a slot. Carrying it unequipped does nothing.

The map also marks the chest room inside the Burned District once you have been there. That makes it easy to check later whether you have already cleared it.

Crypt Key relic effect and record

With the Crypt Key equipped, every chest Rose opens refills her health and her mana to full. The relic has no stated drawback. Its value depends on how many chests are still left for you to open as you explore.

Field	Crypt Key
Type	Relic
Area	Paris Streets
Trigger	Opening a chest
Health restored	Full
Mana restored	Full

Its lore describes a sacred key lost in a fight with the creatures of the night and long believed gone for good.

Burned District reference while you collect the Crypt Key

The route runs through the Burned District, a district of Paris Streets in the City of Paris part of the world. These are the district’s tracked contents. Use them to see what else is in the area while you are there.

Burned District	Value
Mirror of Life	1
Secret areas	1
Breakable walls	1
Item	Shadow Veil
Clue	The Warrior is at the top of the Tower.

The clue listed in that table is given by the Spirit on the bridge. Speaking with it shows the message “NEW CLUE ABOUT THE WARRIOR”. Shadow Veil is another relic, not included in the Crypt Key route. After placing the Crypt Key in a slot, every chest Rose opens on the way out replenishes her health and mana completely.
