Castorice in Anime Vanguards: The Global Revive Passive Explained

What Death's Grasp (Remembrance) does, how she is unlocked, and why her revive triggers even off the field.

What Death’s Grasp (Remembrance) does, how she is unlocked, and why her revive triggers even off the field.

Castorice, listed in-game as Death’s Grasp (Remembrance), is an Exclusive unit added with the 2nd Anniversary update (Update 15.0) in Anime Vanguards. She arrives alongside other new units such as God Ascended (Anniversary) Sung Jinwoo and Dio, and she carries a revive ability that functions whether or not she is placed on the track.

Quick answer: Owning Death’s Grasp or having her in your team grants one revive per match. If you would lose outside of a boss fight and outside PvP, enemies rewind 10 seconds and one stock is restored, shared with any other revives.

How Castorice is obtained

Death’s Grasp (Remembrance) is tied to the Anniversary Event Pass. The fastest route shown is the Event Pass Bundle, priced at 6,000 Robux, which instantly grants the maxed pass rewards. That bundle unlocks the unit, her cosmetics, and her exclusive Memoria in one purchase.

After buying, the pass rewards are claimed from the Event Pass screen. Claiming all rewards delivers Death’s Grasp (Remembrance) and the items bundled with her.

She comes pre-evolved straight from the pass, so there is no separate evolution step to complete at the Evolve station.

Trait, stats, and leveling

Like any unit, Castorice can be improved through traits, stat transfers, and leveling. The Monarch trait is the top target, providing Damage +300%, SPA -10%, Range +5%, and Placement Limit +1. Reaching it is purely luck-based at the Trait Reroll NPC; one run landed on Monarch after 710 rerolls.

A stat transfer then pushes her core numbers up. The result shown reached Z+ Damage, Z SPA, and Z Range, the highest stat grades for each category.

Feeding food items raises her to the cap of Level 60, which lifts her base stats across the board before she ever enters a stage.

The Emerging Death Memoria

Her exclusive Memoria, Emerging Death, comes from the same pass. Equipped and leveled to max, it adds two passives on top of her kit.

  • Death’s Grace — after a revive activates, every unit already on the field receives a 50% damage increase lasting until the match ends. The effect cannot stack.
  • Given Peace — attacks apply a 50% Slow for 10 seconds.

The Memoria’s own trait can be rerolled using Memoria Shards. One run reached Deadeye, which grants Crit Chance +10% and Crit Damage +0.4x, after spending 209 shards total.

The dragon meter mechanic

In a stage, Castorice builds a meter rather than attacking at a fixed rate. She gains 2% meter each time an ally attacks, and at 100% meter she summons a dragon through a placement cutscene.

While the dragon is active, her behavior changes sharply:

  • Her attacks are replaced with Attack 3.
  • She takes 40% of each ally’s total damage stat (pre-buffs) and adds it to her own damage.
  • Her attacks strip Shields and Overshield from enemies, which they cannot regain.
  • Meter drains 1% per second and cannot be gained during this window.
  • When the meter empties, the dragon leaves and deals 300% of her damage to all enemies.

Her base passive, Winged Dragon of Death, gives Cosmic units 80% more damage and Video Game allies 100% more meter gain. Each time she or a teammate activates a skill, her damage increases by 50% for 60 seconds.

The global revive: Death’s Uproar

Death’s Uproar is the passive that works beyond the track. Once you obtain Death’s Grasp or have her in your team, you get one revive per match. If you would lose, and the loss is not caused by a boss and not in PvP, enemies are rewound for 10 seconds and one stock is restored. That revive is shared with other revive effects, so it does not stack with them.

The detail that makes it a global effect is that it does not require her to be placed down. Simply owning her or keeping her in the team is enough for the revive to fire. On the field, Death’s Uproar also handles her meter economy: on placement she gains 100% meter on a 60-second global cooldown, her damage scales up by the percentage of missing meter, and summoning the dragon grants 2 stacks of Ardent Will. Each Ardent Will stack lets the next Active used by a Video Game unit skip its meter cost, up to 2 stacks.

Necro Beam active ability

Necro Beam is her player-controlled active, usable while the dragon is out. It deals ramping area damage to all enemies: 100% per second for 2 seconds, then 200% per second for 2 seconds, then 300% per second for 2 seconds. After the beam finishes, the dragon exits immediately regardless of how much meter is left. The ability runs on a 120-second global cooldown.

Between the dragon’s absorbed team damage, the shield-stripping attacks, the Slow from her Memoria, and a revive that applies even from the bench, Death’s Grasp (Remembrance) is built to carry both offense and insurance for a whole team rather than acting as a standalone damage tower.
