Chameleon Update 5 End Time & Countdown to Update 6

Updated July 24, 2026 By AllThingsHow Staff 28K playing now

Chameleon is one of Roblox’s busiest hide-and-seek experiences right now — a paint-and-camouflage game where you coat your avatar in color and blend into the map to slip past the seekers. It has passed about 60,000,000 visits and been favorited nearly about 290,000 times, and it usually holds tens of thousands of players in-game at once, currently around about 28,000. Here’s where Chameleon’s event schedule stands today and what’s coming next.

Update 5 is live. The developer’s kickoff window opened Tuesday, July 21, 2026 and runs through Tuesday, July 28, 2026, and it is the largest content drop the game has had in weeks: a Soccer Field map, a rebuilt lobby, new leaderboards and a redesigned interface. Update 4, the quality-of-life patch that had been running alongside it, closed out at midday on Wednesday, July 22. Update 6 is already on the calendar for July 28, the same day the kickoff window ends, with the developer keeping its contents under wraps — and sign-ups for it have surged past 90,000.

Current and upcoming events

Update 5 kickoff — live through Tuesday, July 28, 2026

Update 5, billed by the developer as a new map, new lobby and more, went live on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 3:16 AM ET (7:16 AM UTC) and its kickoff window closes on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 3:15 AM ET (7:15 AM UTC). That’s 12:15 AM PT on the US West Coast and 8:15 AM in the UK on the closing day.

It is the broadest patch Chameleon has shipped in this run of updates. The headline addition is a Soccer Field map alongside a completely rebuilt lobby. Beyond the new environments, the update adds leaderboards tracking level, hider wins and seeker wins, reworks the UI with a more unified look and a bigger animated emote wheel, and lets 2x Seeker gamepass owners set their own odds of getting picked as seeker. Controller painting was overhauled, seekers can now join mid-round, and the rest of the notes cover bug fixes and polish.

Around a thousand players have marked themselves as going, a modest figure next to the crowd earlier drops pulled — though a week-long kickoff window tends to draw far fewer sign-ups than a five-hour launch event does. Exact start and end times are in the schedule above.

Update 6 — Tuesday, July 28 to Friday, July 31, 2026

Update 6 is next. It is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET (4:00 PM UTC) and run until Friday, July 31, 2026 at 6:00 PM ET (10:00 PM UTC). That’s a 9:00 AM PT start for the US West Coast and 5:00 PM in the UK.

The developer has not said what is in it — the listing carries no details beyond a note asking players to follow the event so they don’t miss it. That has not stopped interest from building: over 90,000 players have signed up so far, dwarfing the Update 5 kickoff’s turnout and still climbing with a few days to go. What the date does confirm is the cadence. Update 6 starts on the same day the Update 5 kickoff window closes, and with Update 2 on July 12, Update 4 on July 16 and Update 5 on July 21, the developer has been shipping new content every few days rather than monthly.

Update 4 — ended Wednesday, July 22, 2026

Update 4, the quality-of-life patch, has now finished. It opened late on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 11:30 PM ET (3:30 AM UTC on July 16) and closed on Wednesday, July 22 at 12:00 PM ET (4:00 PM UTC), overlapping the first two days of the Update 5 kickoff. The developer’s listing described it simply as new content, with the subtitle pointing to quality-of-life work rather than a headline feature.

It drew the second-largest turnout of Chameleon’s recent run, with over 450,000 players signed up — far short of the July 12 drop, but many times what the game’s week-long kickoff windows have pulled since.

Update 2 — Sunday, July 12, 2026 (ended)

Update 2 has finished. It ran on Sunday, July 12, 2026 from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM ET (11:00 to 16:00 UTC) and remains the biggest turnout Chameleon has recorded, with nearly 1.5 million players signed up — many times the number the game holds in-game on a normal day. The developer’s listing for Update 2 pointed to new maps and other features, without going into specifics. Nothing since has come close to that sign-up total, which reflects both its scale and the fact that it was a single-morning launch event rather than a multi-day window.

Frequently asked questions

When is the next Chameleon update?

Update 6 is next, starting Tuesday, July 28, 2026 and running through Friday, July 31. The developer hasn’t announced what it contains. Until then, Update 5 is live, having launched on July 21 with a Soccer Field map and a rebuilt lobby.

What time does Chameleon Update 6 start?

Update 6 begins at 12:00 PM ET (4:00 PM UTC) on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 — 9:00 AM PT for the US West Coast and 5:00 PM in the UK. It closes on Friday, July 31 at 6:00 PM ET (10:00 PM UTC).

How often does Chameleon get updates?

Roughly weekly, and sometimes faster. As of this writing the developer has scheduled four drops in under three weeks — July 12, July 16, July 21 and July 28 — with some windows overlapping so a new patch opens before the previous one closes.

How many players does Chameleon have?

Chameleon usually holds tens of thousands of players in-game at once, currently around about 28,000. Over its lifetime it has passed about 60,000,000 visits and been favorited nearly about 290,000 times.
