Clover Legends Guide: Best Grimoires and Early Progression (Roblox)

Which grimoires rank highest, how rerolls and upgrades work, and the fastest early route through the Clover Kingdom.

Clover Legends is a free open-world action RPG on Roblox built by Fleckslabs and heavily inspired by Black Clover. Almost everything about your character flows from one moment: the grimoire spin at the Grimoire Tower, which locks in your magic type and every ability slot you will use. There are more than 60 grimoires across six rarity tiers, so knowing what is worth keeping — and what is worth rerolling — saves you hours.

Quick answer: Light and Anti-Magic sit at the top of the grimoire rankings, but a fully upgraded Rare beats an unupgraded Mythic. Redeem FREEGEMS and GETREROLL in Settings before spending any Yul.

Best grimoires in Clover Legends (tier list)

TierGrimoires
SSLight · Anti-Magic
SDark · World Tree
ALightning · Chain
BPlant · Poison · Earth
CWater · Fire
DWind

Light is the standout pick thanks to its wide area-of-effect damage, which makes clearing packs of enemies and hitting world bosses trivial compared to single-target kits. Anti-Magic sits beside it for raw damage output and skill effectiveness.

Dark and World Tree are the fallback picks if the top two never roll. Dark edges ahead on pure damage, while World Tree brings a strong full skillset to match its legendary billing.

Lightning and Chain are the practical mid-game keepers. Lightning in particular is highly spammable, which matters more than a big damage number when you are farming the same mobs for hours. Plant has a large area attack that puts it above Poison and Earth in the B group, and Earth’s short skill range is what holds it back.

The starter elements — Water, Fire and especially Wind — are fine for learning combos but fall off fast. Wind’s low damage and basic utility put it at the bottom.

Grimoire rarity tiers and spin rates

Rare (blue)~10%Mid-game builds
Epic (purple)~4%Competitive builds
Legendary (gold)~0.99%Meta builds
Mythic (red/dark)~0.01%Endgame meta

Spins cost Yul, the base currency, and the grimoire equips immediately once the animation ends. Mythic pulls such as Dark Magic, Void Magic and Time Magic land at roughly one in ten thousand, so treat them as a bonus rather than a plan.

Rarity is not the same as power in practice. A maxed Rare grimoire outperforms an unupgraded Mythic at every stage of the game, so stop rerolling once you have something you are willing to invest in.

Your first spin: Codes, rerolls, and when to keep

Open Menu → Settings → Codes before you touch the Grimoire Tower. Redeem FREEGEMS for 500 Gems and GETREROLL for three free Grimoire Rerolls. If a code refuses to register, switch to a private server and enter it again.
Head to the Grimoire Tower NPC in Hage Village and spin. Your result sets your magic type and fills the Z, X, C and V ability slots, so this is the single most consequential button press of your first session.
Decide whether to keep or burn a token. Rare or above is worth keeping and upgrading straight away. Uncommon is perfectly playable. If you land on a Common and want better, spend a free reroll or put those 500 Gems into a Gem Shop bundle, which guarantees a Rare or higher pull.

You can also re-spin at any point later using a Reroll Token, so a bad early roll is never permanent. Grimoire fragments drop from world and dungeon bosses too, making boss farming the most reliable long-term source.

Free Gems, Yul, and playtime rewards

Daily Login Rewards hand out Gems and Yul every day just for showing up, and the Day 7 streak pays out a Reroll Token plus 200 Gems. That is the best passive income in the game and it costs nothing but a login.

The Free Reward menu also runs a Playtime tab that ticks over while you are in a session, dropping Yul at set intervals, alongside a Mystery Grimoire unlock and a reward for joining the official Discord server. Check the Gem Shop after each login, since Gems accumulate faster than you would expect and Rare+ bundles are the strongest way to spend them.

Upgrading your grimoire with Magic Stones

Grimoire levelWhat changes
1–5Base damage up, minor cooldown reduction
6–10Ability slots 3 and 4 unlock, new ability variants
MaxAwakening form and exclusive visual effects

Magic Stones drop from bosses and are the only way to level a grimoire. Level 6 is the first real power spike, because that is where the third ability slot opens up and your damage per rotation jumps. The fourth slot follows on the way to 10.

Awakening sits on top of that. Grimoire Awakening upgrades are applied to your equipped book and push it past its standard ceiling, so bank materials rather than spreading investment across grimoires you do not intend to main.

Magic Knight Squads unlock at Level 10

PlaystyleSquad
High damage, aggressiveBlack Bulls · Crimson Lion Kings
Balanced all-rounderGolden Dawn
Speed and agilitySilver Eagles
Support and crowd controlBlue Rose Knights · Azure Deer

There are nine squads in total, and the right one depends on the grimoire you settled on. An area-damage book like Light pairs naturally with an aggressive squad, while a utility-heavy kit gets more mileage out of the support options. Rank progression runs alongside this, with early quests pushing you up through Junior ranks and unlocking gear like the Starter Broom.

Where to level: Region order and early quests

RegionLevel rangeFocus
Hage Village1–10Grimoire spin, bandit quests
Clover Forests10–25Forest Golem world boss
Ancient Ruins25–50Raichi boss, better gear drops
Mistwood Village30–55Venom Shaman, Poison gear
Hidden Dungeons50+Legendary+ grimoire drops

Work through them in order rather than sprinting ahead. The early quest chain is the fastest leveling loop available: Sister Lillie hands out Trouble on the Shore, which sends you to clear wild monkeys, and Father Orin follows with The King in the Treeline, a boss quest that pushes you to the next rank.

Once the starter area is done, open the Teleport map and move on. Skull Island’s Village Elder offers Bells That Stopped Ringing against the Fox Mages, and Auto Quest will keep the chain ticking while you focus on positioning. Fast travel between regions runs through the City Merchant NPC.

Mistwood Village is the most recent region added, bringing Poison Wolves, Poison Boars and the Venom Shaman world boss on a 25-minute respawn timer.

Combat habits that make the difference

  • Dodge with Q against bosses instead of blocking — dodges have i-frames, blocking a heavy attack gets you guard-broken and stunned.
  • Use all four ability slots. Abilities hit far harder than M1 chains, and slot 4 opens at Grimoire Level 6.
  • Learn the loop: M1 combo chains into a Q dodge, then Z/X abilities to build the Ultimate gauge.
  • Hold Ctrl for Mana Sense in every zone to reveal hidden chests and herb spawns you would otherwise walk past.
  • Fight every world boss spawn — grimoire fragment drop rates are best there, and all damage dealers get loot.

Mana Sense is the one most players skip. Blue herbs and similar pickups scattered around each region feed into awakening and crafting, and they are easy to miss at a run.

Chests and race rerolls

Common and Rare Chests sit in the Items tab of your inventory and open instantly. They pay out crafting ingredients and, importantly, race rerolls.

Race is rolled separately from your grimoire and is managed on the Profile screen. Angel and Devil are the two races worth chasing, so bank your rerolls and spend them in batches rather than one at a time.

Put together, the early game is mostly a matter of sequencing. Redeem the codes, spin once, commit to a grimoire you can live with, and pour every Magic Stone into reaching Level 6 before you worry about anything else. Everything after that — squads, ranks, world bosses — moves considerably faster once your third and fourth ability slots are live.
