Notes entries clutter the Quest Log in Control Resonant almost from the start, and they behave differently from the missions sitting above them. They never hand you a fresh objective marker of their own. Instead, each one collects progress you are already making elsewhere and then ticks itself off once the mission it is attached to wraps up.

Quick answer: Notes entries are Quest Log trackers, not standalone missions. Plan of Attack closes with Into the Sinkhole, Jesse Sightings closes with the Underpass Fault, and Mapping the New New York clears during Sever the Hedron Links.

All Notes entries and what closes them

Three Notes entries appear over the course of the campaign. None of them adds an extra mission to your total, because the objectives they list are already counted under the story or Jesse chains.

Notes: Plan of Attack — finish Into the Sinkhole

Plan of Attack tracks the power and relay work. Power Lines leads into this operation: reroute the Factory, East Park, Perimeter, and Vanished Stations, assist survivors on the surface, then report to Dr. Florez. The same run also includes calibrating Platform A and Platform B at the Vanished Station.

The entry does not close there. It clears the moment you finish Into the Sinkhole, which asks you to escort the probe relays down, clear out the Hiss, install the relays, escape and then follow the music. No manual step is needed once that mission ends.

Into the Sinkhole runs long and throws a new Hiss variant at you, so bank some Talent Points and weapon form upgrades before you start it.

Notes: Jesse Sightings — clear the Fault missions

Every time Dylan spots a vision of Jesse, that sighting is logged under this entry. The visions lead into the Fault missions, and the Fault missions are where the traversal abilities come from.

  • The Incursion Fault — Parking Garage in the West Incursion Zone; the ritual unlocks Shift.
  • The Subway Fault — the subway in the Evacuation Zone; needs Shift, and the ritual unlocks Reach.
  • The Underpass Fault — the island of orange pipes, reached from The Spire once you have Reach; no new ability.

The Underpass Fault closes the entry. Lead the children formed from projected light, bring young Dylan and Jesse back together, and finish the ritual; once the mission concludes, Jesse Sightings advances automatically.

The Underpass Fault soft-blocks you on the first attempt. Go do the Subway Fault in the Evacuation Zone, then return to the Underpass — the fastest route back is The Spire fast travel point.

Notes: Mapping the New New York — activate a Map Kit in every Zone

During Welcome to Manhattan, go to Downtown and talk with the maintenance worker beside the first Mapping Pylon. Activating a pylon uncovers its Zone’s map, while the objectives continue throughout Manhattan for most of the campaign.

If you have been activating the Map Kit in every new Zone as you arrive, the entry completes by itself during Sever the Hedron Links. If it does not, one Zone is still unmapped — the map screen makes it obvious which one — and activating that final Map Kit closes the entry. Getting this done early also makes the Unknown far easier to navigate later.

Exchange Location Note in Downtown (The Complete Set)

Separate from the Quest Log trackers, there is a physical note you pick up during The Complete Set, the Downtown side story that begins at the Auction House in the northwest of the zone. The Exchange Location Note is tucked inside an apartment, and grabbing it is what moves the quest along.

From the rooftops, drop down to street level. The building you want is the one with the red carpet at its entrance.

Run down the ground floor hallway and take the wooden staircase up. Follow the residential corridor on the upper floor past the closed apartment doors.
Step through the one apartment doorway that is open. The note is collected as you enter, and the prompt Exchange Location Note — Open Menu appears on screen.
Check the tracker. The objective flips to Look for Clues at the Coffee Shop, which is your confirmation the note registered. The rest of the apartment — kitchen, hallway shelves, the bedroom with the clothing rack — is worth a sweep, but nothing else is required to continue.

How to confirm a Notes entry has completed

Completion is always signposted in the Quest Log rather than by a separate reward screen. When the attached mission ends, the Notes entry moves out of your active list without any prompt to hand anything in. If one is still sitting there, the mission tied to it has not finished yet — Into the Sinkhole for Plan of Attack, the Underpass Fault for Jesse Sightings, or a missing Map Kit for Mapping the New New York.

Because none of these entries can be failed or missed permanently, there is no reason to chase them out of order. Play the main chain, switch on each Map Kit when you enter a new Zone, and all three close themselves on schedule.
