The Search for Jesse chain in Control Resonant opens with the objective “Investigate Jesse’s vision at the orange-pipe island,” found in The Underpass Fault. In the Underpass, the marker is above a group of concrete towers encircled by rusty orange industrial pipes, so approaching from above is the only practical route.

Quick answer: Fast travel to The Spire in the Underpass, levitate northwest across the floating pillars to the orange-pipe island, then follow the pipes and the flooded tunnel down to the golden Fault platform.

What you need before the objective will finish

Two things gate this objective, and both trip people up because the marker appears long before the route does.

  • Reach, the traversal ability from The Subway Fault in the Evacuation Zone. Without it, the island is unreachable.
  • Shift, from The Incursion Fault, which is required to finish the Subway Fault in the first place.
  • Progress in Recursions and Iterations, which is what brings Dylan into the Underpass and puts the vision on the map.

If you picked up the objective early, you were likely soft-blocked. The game hands you the Underpass vision, then sends you to find a Fault in the Evacuation Zone before the route here opens. Anything downstream, including sealing the remaining Fault during The House in Distress, waits until The Underpass Fault is done.

Open the Quest Log and select Track Quest on The Underpass Fault first. The yellow diamond marker and the highlighted quest zone on the Underpass map are how you confirm you are aiming at the right island.

Fastest route to the island of orange pipes

Walking in from the Underpass floor wastes several minutes. Start from the roof pad at The Spire instead, which sits almost level with the island.

Go to a Fast Travel Door — the one in Central Executive works fine — and open the destination list. Choose Underpass, then The Spire.

You arrive on the landing pad at the top of The Spire. Open the map and look at the outlined quest zone to the northwest, then face that direction from the pad edge.

Levitate across the gap, using the rectangular concrete pillars floating in between as stepping stones. The target is unmistakable up close — huge orange pipes coiled around grey towers.

Climb to the top of the island and interact with the Fast Travel Door standing on the yellow platform. It registers as “Fast Travel Door Activated” and adds a waypoint named Fault, so you can return here instantly if you die or step away.

Following the pipes down to the Fault

From the waypoint, the path stops being open air and becomes a short descent through the structure itself. The “In Quest Area” prompt appears once you are on the pipes.

Behind the Fast Travel Door, climb the narrow concrete pillars until you are standing on top of the wide horizontal orange pipes.

Keep following the pipes as they turn until you find the shadowy hole in the concrete wall, then drop inside.
You land in a flooded chamber with hovering fungal enemies. Clear all of them before moving on, since the corridor ahead is narrow and gives you little room to dodge.
Head into the green-lit corridor. Jesse’s voice starts breaking through in fragments while The Board interjects, which confirms you are on the right path. Keep going until you reach the large central drainage pipe and slide down it.
At the pipe exit, levitate across the drop onto the floating rock platform with the golden carpet and the glowing fissure on it. Hold the interact prompt on the Fault to enter.

How to confirm the objective is complete

You get two separate “Quest Updated” notifications on the way through. The first swaps the objective to Enter the Fault once you are standing on the golden platform. The second fires when you interact with the fissure and changes it to Find Jesse and Talk to Her.

The setting change is the surest confirmation. When Dylan crosses into the Fault, the Underpass gives way to a dark forest, and he calls for Jesse. If you remain among the pipes while the tracker reads “Investigate Jesse’s vision at the orange-pipe island,” you have yet to reach the platform.

From there The Underpass Fault continues inside the Fault itself — guiding the light-projected children, reuniting young Dylan and Jesse, and completing the ritual. No new traversal ability comes out of it, but finishing it closes out Notes: Jesse Sightings and clears the block on Recursions and Iterations and The House in Distress. Use the Fault waypoint you unlocked on the yellow platform to get back to the Underpass afterwards.
