The Echo art gallery in Evacuation Zone 3 hides a button puzzle behind its paintings. Solving it opens a concealed wall that leads down to a storage room with a lore collectible and one of the health upgrades scattered across Manhattan. The whole thing hinges on a note sitting on the reception desk.

Quick answer: Light up the paintings in the order Journey, Windows, Thunder, Tides using the pillar buttons. The correct picks are the second, first, first, and second painting.

The puzzle sits inside the Echo gallery, one of the enterable storefronts in the Evacuation Zone. It is close to the Survivalist’s Apartment and the Evac Building, and you will pass it while working through the Urban Survival quest. Step in off the street to begin.

Inside, four walls each display three paintings alongside a button. Pressing a button shifts the lighting so it highlights a different painting on that wall. Your job is to leave the correct picture lit on all four walls.

Read the “Paintings Sold” note first

Inspect the document on the reception counter labelled Paintings Sold. It lists the four works sold this month, and that list is the exact order you need to work in:

  • Journey
  • Windows
  • Thunder
  • Tides

Each word points to the painting that best matches it on its wall. Work from left to right and pick the image that fits the theme. The matching answers are the second painting, then the first, then the first, then the second.

Stand by the pillar alongside the Journey painting, then keep pressing its concealed button with [F] until the painting lights up.

Head across the gallery to the pillar beside the Windows painting and activate its button to highlight the right image.

At the pillar by the Thunder painting, close to the small round table, press the button.
Finish at the pillar beside the Tides painting and press the last button. With all four correct paintings lit, a wall toward the back left of the room slides open.

If nothing opens, one wall is still showing the wrong painting. Press that wall’s button again to cycle the lighting until the picture matching its word is the one lit.

Rewards and how to confirm the puzzle is done

Once the mechanical wall opens, a staircase corridor appears. Follow it down into the underground storage room to collect both rewards.

The pickup prompt for the health point and the journal entry landing in your collectibles are your confirmation that the puzzle is solved. With those in hand, you can head back up the corridor and carry on with Urban Survival.
