CONTROL Resonant: How to Solve the One Man Band Puzzle (Live on Stage)

The One Man Band puzzle in CONTROL Resonant is a Sketchbook Drawing activity, not a simple pickup. Dylan has to rebuild an abandoned band rehearsal setup in an apartment before he can sketch it. That means finding five missing instruments scattered around the rooms and dropping each onto its matching stand on the stage rug.

Quick answer: In the Collector’s Apartment in Central, place the cymbal, green guitar, keyboard, microphone, and red guitar on their stands around the rug, then press [Alt] to Draw and unlock the Live on Stage sketch.

Where to find the One Man Band puzzle in Central

The puzzle sits inside the Collector’s Apartment on the southwestern side of Central Manhattan, near the Central Supply Route Station and the Museum of Curiosities. From the street, enter the residential apartment building, run down the hallway, climb the stairs, and step into the open apartment unit on the upper floor.

Walk into the living room with the rug and stands, and the [Alt] One man band prompt appears. Dylan notes that the setup “is not quite there,” which confirms you are in the right spot and the puzzle is active.

The five instruments and where they go

Two items are in the bedroom, and the rest are in the living room. Each has one correct stand.

There is an answering machine on the table nearby that plays a message from Pete, Nina and Lester. It is optional flavor and does not affect the puzzle.

Step-by-step solution

Take the drum cymbal from the living room coffee table, bring it to the drum kit, and set it on the vacant cymbal stand next to the set.

Lift the teal/green electric guitar from beside the living room couch, then rest it on the guitar stand to the rug’s left.

Go into the bedroom and remove the electronic keyboard from the bed. Bring it back to the stage and set it on the stand with an X-frame, positioned behind the rug.

Collect the microphone lying in the corner of the floor. Attach it to the center microphone stand.

In the bedroom, retrieve the red electric guitar from the floor near the wall. Complete the set by placing it on the vacant guitar stand to the rug’s right.

How to draw the sketch and confirm the reward

Once all five instruments are on their stands, the objective updates to The Complete Set and Dylan says the scene is “Finished.” A [Alt] Draw prompt appears in front of the setup.

Stand facing the stage and press [Alt] to trigger the sketching cutscene. When it ends, you get a + 1 Undefined Reading notification and the Live on Stage collectible, which registers as Dylan’s Sketchbook 7/11. Open the Archives to read the entry, noted as “Sketched in Central” with “Maybe in another life.” written on the back.

If the Draw prompt does not appear, an instrument is still missing or placed on the wrong stand. Recheck the coffee table, couch, bedroom bed, floor corner, and bedroom wall until every stand is filled, then draw the completed one-man band to close out the puzzle.
