The House in Distress returns Control Resonant to the Oldest House, sending Dylan Faden and Zoe into the Prime Candidate Training grounds to chase a Dimensional Fault from Dylan’s vision. The run mixes light traversal, a control room power puzzle, a Hiss fight, and a void-dimension platforming sequence that ends with the ritual near Jesse.
Quick answer: After the Underpass missions, fast travel to the Oldest House: Central Executive door, meet Zoe in Executive Research, restore power in the Interactions Lab by matching the three grids, then reach the Main Test Chamber and use the TV to enter the Fault and complete the ritual.
How to start The House in Distress
This mission unlocks after you finish the Underpass missions in Recursions and Iterations. The first objective is simply “Meet Zoe at Executive Research in the Oldest House,” and everything past that stays inside the Oldest House training wing.
Fast-travel to the Oldest House: Central Executive door to start. Cross the office atrium from Central Executive, defeat the Hiss and distorted resonant enemies that appear, and ride the elevator to Executive Research. If the way seems blocked, remain in that room and find the elevator that goes down.
Meet Zoe at the entrance to the Prime Candidate Training grounds, near Dylan’s old cell room. Speaking to her unlocks the Clearance Level 18 door, since she carries an FBC keycard taken from the archives.
Go inside with Zoe, then use the quest-log update to find the Fault. Dr. Darling’s Prime Candidate Program orientation video plays as you pass through the lecture area.
Let Zoe scan and unlock the Level 18 Main Observation doors. Look through the observation window at the contaminated test chamber beneath you; the Fault is inside the Main Test Chamber.
The direct blast door to the Main Test Chamber, marked V-E2, is offline, and you cannot bypass it from this side. Descend by the alternate path, passing through the Classrooms on your way to the Interactions Lab.
Emergency power is all the lab has. Go down the stairs to find two Power Cores, one of them inactive. In the lower room, draw a charge from the functioning Core, then take it upstairs and apply it to the inactive Core at the power setup console to restore power.
Restoring power opens Test Room #2, and stepping inside locks you in as an automated voice announces the test cycle has started. Solve the grid puzzle below to reopen the doors.
Power Core puzzle solutions (Electrokinesis Test)
The room holds spare Power Cores on both sides and a wall grid of nine slots arranged as a 3×3 layout. Each test lights up a pattern on the side monitors, and you power the matching wall Cores to pass. Work through all three in order using the positions below.
Test
Power Cores to activate
Test #1
Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Middle
Test #2
Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Left, Bottom Right
Test #3
Top Middle, Middle Left, Middle, Middle Right, Bottom Middle
After each correct pattern the room confirms the result with a “Success!” prompt, and clearing all three shows the COMPLETE status and unlocks the doors.
High Risk Chamber, the tape, and the Director Training fight
With the doors open, watch the archival control room recording. It shows Dr. Darling instructing staff to push subject P6, Dylan, into extreme distress rather than coddling him.
Move along the upper balconies to the High Risk Chamber door, then pass through Dylan’s former P6 containment cell. The bloodstained room triggers a memory where Dylan admits he killed personnel during test 356 after losing control.
Enter the Director Training courtyard and clear the encounter. Several waves of Hiss and resonant enemies appear before the final entrance to the Main Test Chamber opens.
A side office in this courtyard holds a red Hotline phone, an executive armchair, and a red carpet. Enter it to collect a +1 Talent Point before you leave the area.
Zoe keeps the door open as Dylan goes into the Main Test Chamber by himself. Mannequins stand around golden foliage and an altered television inside. As he nears them, The Board speaks to Dylan telepathically, ordering him to turn back and describing entry as “forbidden/stupid/a no-no.”
Interact with the TV and fall into the unstable pocket dimension, with Jesse’s voice echoing around you. Jump from one fragment of the Oldest House to another, through the autumn leaves.
Reach the mesh partition and speak to Jesse, then split up to begin the ritual. Pull the triple lightcord switch beside the floating TVs to shift the dimension.
Cross the gravity-inverted office corridors, ride the void elevator, and pass through the snowy, white-grass facility wing, activating the next ritual TV along the way.
Leap between the huge floating monoliths toward the swirling vortex of purple and red. Then sprint along the central red carpet toward Jesse to start the final cutscene.
How to confirm the quest is done
The quest objectives appear in this order: Meet Zoe at Executive Research, Locate the Fault, Reach the Oldest House Fault, and Complete the Ritual. Reaching Jesse at the red carpet’s summit finishes the last objective. The mission then concludes through several cutscenes and a conversation with Zoe. This Fault grants no new traversal ability; after the cutscenes end and control returns, The House in Distress is complete, and the campaign continues toward The Hedron Link.
