Control Resonant: Why the Street Keeps Resetting in The Last Taxi

During The Last Taxi in Control Resonant, Dylan gets stuck on an amber-fogged New York street with the objective “Get Back to Manhattan.” Every time he climbs into a taxi, the screen fades to black and he respawns at the same corner. The street is not bugged. It is a puzzle, and the loop only ends when you pick one specific cab.

Quick answer: The street resets because entering the wrong taxi reloads Dylan at the start of the segment. Break it by entering the one taxi whose flashing lights are out of sync with the rest.

Why the amber street keeps resetting

The reset is a deliberate mechanic, not a failure. Each time Dylan enters an incorrect taxi, the game reloads him at the beginning of the street segment. That is why the same corner keeps coming back.

The loop is not pointless, though. Each taxi you board nudges the scene forward. A traffic light turns green, Dylan’s radio chatter shifts, and he notes his progress out loud with lines like “Something’s changed, but it’s not enough yet.” Those small changes are your signal that the cycle is advancing rather than truly stalling.

The trap is that most cabs are wrong. In the final phase, four taxis sit on the street with their hazard and roof lights flashing. Three of them blink in perfect unison. Boarding any of those three sends Dylan straight back to the corner.

Break the loop by entering the out-of-sync taxi

Stop running toward the first taxi you see. Stand back on the street and watch the four cabs cycle their lights for a couple of full blinks before you commit to anything.

Find the outlier. Three of the taxis flash their roof and hazard lights in identical time. One breaks that rhythm and blinks at a different, slower cadence. That desynchronized cab is the correct one — in this run it sits on the right sidewalk.
Walk up to the out-of-sync taxi and press L1 to enter it when the prompt appears over the door. Ignore the three synchronized cabs entirely.

Patience matters more than speed here. A single blink is not enough to tell the odd cab apart, so wait through two or three cycles before you approach.

How to know the loop is broken

Entering the desynchronized taxi ends the reset for good. Instead of fading back to the corner, Dylan drops onto a broken roadway suspended over a fractured, abyssal version of the city. This is the surreal Threshold the puzzle was leading toward.

You can tell the puzzle is solved from two changes. Dylan reconnects with Zoe over the radio and says the cab brought him out of an alternate city. His objective switches from “Get Back to Manhattan” to Get the Caller Back to Manhattan, directing you to the civilian trapped inside the Threshold.
