Cyclops is a hitscan Duelist in Marvel Rivals built entirely around Scott Summers’ optic blasts. He has 275 health and plays as a ranged damage dealer who pokes from behind the frontline, charges a resource called Ricochet Force, and uses propulsion beams for both mobility and escapes.
Quick answer: Hold the left mouse button for fast Optic Blast bursts and the right mouse button for the refracting Concussive Beam, both of which speed up your Ricochet Force charge. Save Propulsion Burst (SHIFT) as an escape rather than an engage, and fire Ruby Rage (Q) as a sweeping visor-off beam that leaves an exploding energy trail.

Cyclops abilities in Marvel Rivals
His kit pairs two primary fire modes with a set of propulsion and ricochet tools. Because he is hitscan, every shot lands instantly when your crosshair is on target, with no projectile travel time.
| Ability | Input | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Optic Blast | LMB | Fires a quick burst of kinetic force forward. Hitting enemies speeds up Ricochet Force charge. |
| Concussive Beam | RMB | Continuous beam that refracts between enemies and the environment. Hitting enemies speeds up Ricochet Force charge. |
| Ruby Rage | Q | Ultimate. Removes the visor for a sweeping beam that destroys all barriers in its path and leaves volatile energy that erupts for heavy secondary explosive damage. |
| Propulsion Burst | SHIFT | Pushes both Cyclops and the target backward and applies a Slow to the enemy. |
| Ricochet Force | E | Fires a beam that diffracts and tracks nearby enemies after hitting terrain. Grants Bonus Health on use. |
| Optic Ascent | F | Fires a propulsion beam straight down to launch himself up and knock back enemies, applying a Slow. |
| Kinetic Hover | Passive | Enters a slow-fall state while firing Concussive Beam in the air. |
| Blast Slash | Team-Up | Supercharges Wolverine’s claws for extended range and replaces his Vicious Rampage with Kinetic Claws. |

Add to Google Preferences →How Ruby Rage works
Ruby Rage is the visor-off ultimate fans expect from Cyclops. He tilts his head upward and fires a straight-line laser that carves through barriers and paints a trail on everything it touches, including walls and elevated platforms. That trail then detonates for large area damage.
The explosion triggers fast, so enemies have little time to clear the trail. It works best when you combo it with a teammate’s crowd control, or when you catch a grouped team whose health is already low during a fight. Use Propulsion Burst or Optic Ascent to reach a strong firing angle before pressing Q.

How to play Cyclops
Cyclops is a burst-damage Duelist with enough mobility to play aggressively or to survive when focused. Treat positioning as the core of the character. Pressure enemies from behind a shield or from high ground with a clear line of sight, stay close to a barrier, and use shoulder peeks to trade safely.

Blast Slash Team-Up with Wolverine
In the Blast Slash Team-Up, Cyclops is the anchor. Activating it supercharges Wolverine’s claws with kinetic energy, increasing his melee range. Wolverine’s Vicious Rampage is swapped for Kinetic Claws, which gives him a brief forward lunge that unleashes a flurry of slashes around him.
How to counter Cyclops
The strongest answers are heroes who can burst him down quickly and chase him when he retreats or takes to the air with Optic Ascent. Cloak & Dagger stand out as a Strategist counter. They can pull allies to safety with their shadow ability when Ruby Rage goes off, and they can blind Cyclops so he struggles to land hitscan shots.

Cyclops release in Marvel Rivals
Cyclops arrived in Season 8.5, which launched on June 12, 2026. He fits the established X-Men picture as Scott Summers, who emits optic energy blasts and is married to Jean Grey, here mirrored by his hitscan kinship with Phoenix and his Team-Up with Wolverine.
