Danzaburou is a recurring nuisance anomaly in Neverness to Everness (NTE), the open-world action RPG from Hotta Studio. It shows up in two very different places: as a sneaky disguised customer inside the Owner's Selection shop mini-game, and as a transformed enemy fought during the Bridge Crossings side quest "We! Are! One!" Players also see it referenced in lore through Nanally Colucci's past operation, "Danzaburou's Revenge."
Quick answer: In Owner's Selection, hit any customer wearing a red scarf with the hammer icon on the left of the screen to drive Danzaburou away before it ruins your run. In the field, you encounter and fight Danzaburou as a quest boss in "We! Are! One!" in Bridge Crossings.

What Danzaburou is in NTE
Danzaburou is classified as an oddity-style anomaly that pesters shopkeepers and turns hostile when cornered. It can disguise itself as a normal customer to slip into your shop, and it can transform into a combat form when tracked down to its hideout. The creature is tied to dog-themed encounters in Bridge Crossings, where it antagonizes Ruddy, the side quest's photographer character, and his pack of dogs.
Within in-world lore, Nanally Colucci is credited with taking part in "Danzaburou's Revenge," one of several major anomaly containment operations referenced on her official character profile. That places Danzaburou in the same tier of recurring named anomalies as the "Fluffy Demon King Showdown" and the "V-class Wrath GR Cloud Crisis."
Danzaburou in Owner's Selection (shop mini-game)
Owner's Selection is the cafe-style mini-game where you serve dishes using ingredients and equipment around the shop. Danzaburou shows up here as a hidden saboteur. It blends into the line of customers, and if you do not drive it away quickly, it disrupts the round and costs you points and earnings.
How to spot it: Danzaburou disguises itself as a customer wearing a red scarf. That scarf is the only consistent visual tell among the regular crowd of patrons.
How to remove it: Tap the hammer icon on the left side of the screen and hit the red-scarf customer. This drives the disguised Danzaburou out before it can interfere with your service.
| Danzaburou in Owner's Selection | Detail |
|---|---|
| Disguise tell | Customer wearing a red scarf |
| Counter tool | Hammer icon on the left side of the screen |
| Action | Tap the hammer on the red-scarf customer to drive them away |
| Consequence if ignored | Disrupts the round, hurting score and shop income |
Note: Some characters can passively help with this. For example, Sakiri's Lv.3 management skill, "No Work, No Reward," makes her weapon Kiroumaru actively attack and drive away Danzaburou while she is assigned to the shop. Chiz's "Lobby Manager" Lv.3 also explicitly excludes Danzaburou from its dish-pricing bonus, treating it as a sabotage event rather than a regular customer.

Danzaburou in the We! Are! One! side quest
The combat encounter with Danzaburou happens during the "We! Are! One!" side quest, which begins in Bridge Crossings. You start it by speaking to Ruddy on an overpass. The quest mixes photo objectives, timed events, and an anomaly hunt that ends with a transformed Danzaburou as the final fight before the dog-themed wrap-up at the Drive-In Theater and the photo studio.
Where to start: Bridge Crossings, on the overpass where Ruddy is set up with kittens for a photo.
Time-gated step: The ad shoot event only triggers between 15:00 and 18:00 in-game time. If you arrive outside that window, advance time before going to the location.
Tracking and defeating Danzaburou
Step 1: After investigating Ruddy's home and appraising the traces in his belongings (interact with the box three times), exchange clues with Ruddy to identify Danzaburou as the culprit.
Step 2: Talk to nearby civilians, then locate the Dangerous Dog that is chasing Danzaburou. This points you toward the trail.
Step 3: Follow Auddy to find Danzaburou's hideout. The dog leads you through the path automatically once you start tracking.
Step 4: Move Danzaburou's food reserves at the hideout. Interact with the marked object four times to drain the stash and force the encounter.
Step 5: Defeat the transformed Danzaburou. After the fight, talk to the JTF (Joint Task Force) member who arrives on the scene to confirm containment and continue the quest.
You know the boss step worked when the JTF member appears and the quest log advances to returning Ruddy's photo. From there, the quest moves on to the hot dog stand, the Drive-In Theater Soultractor sequence with the dogs, the Cerberus chat, and the final photo with Aubury at the studio.

Common reasons the Danzaburou steps do not trigger
- You arrived at the ad shoot location outside the 15:00–18:00 in-game window. Advance time and return.
- You did not interact with the clue box three times during the appraisal step, so Ruddy will not exchange clues to name Danzaburou as the culprit.
- You did not move the food reserves four times at the hideout, which is what forces Danzaburou to transform into its boss form.
- In Owner's Selection, you tried to use a normal serving action on the red-scarf customer instead of the hammer icon. Only the hammer drives Danzaburou away.
Whether you meet Danzaburou as a costumed troublemaker in your shop or as the transformed boss at the end of a Bridge Crossings investigation, the pattern is the same. Spot the tell, interrupt the disguise or the food stash, and finish the encounter on the game's terms rather than letting the anomaly dictate the round.
