Deltarune Chapter 5 Egg: How to Reach the Hidden Egg Room

The Petal Feather, a wheat field, a balloon dog, and a watering can all stand between you and Chapter 5's secret Egg.

The Petal Feather, a wheat field, a balloon dog, and a watering can all stand between you and Chapter 5’s secret Egg.

The Egg returns in Chapter 5 of Deltarune as the latest entry in a series of hidden Key Items handed over by the Forgotten Man. Like the eggs in earlier chapters, it does nothing mechanically and vanishes from your inventory at the end of the chapter. Getting to it, however, takes a specific chain of actions in the Cliffs area that you will not stumble into by accident.

Quick answer: Clear every wheat tile in the field past the Cliffs shop, then destroy the single regrown wheat block repeatedly until a balloon appears. Follow it into the dog room, interact with the flowers in the exact order the balloon dog shows you to spawn a Watering Can, then use the watering can to open the path left to the tree room and talk to the man behind the tree.

What you need before starting

You cannot begin the egg sequence until you have progressed far enough through Chapter 5 to reach the Cliffs. The gating item is the Petal Feather, which you use to power the Mysterious Structures and open up movement through the area.

  • Obtain the Petal Feather during normal story progression.
  • Use it on the Mysterious Structures to advance into the Cliffs.
  • Find the shop in the Cliffs that sells a small selection of items. This is your landmark for the wheat field.

Clear the wheat field past the Cliffs shop

From the Cliffs shop, head right to enter the wheat field. A few enemies live here, and you can recruit them rather than fighting them out the hard way.

Pass through the Torii Gate. A flying enemy, the tropical starwalker, fires projectiles at you during this stretch, so dodge them until you reach the far side safely.
Travel back and forth through the Torii Gates and destroy every piece of wheat in the field. Keep going until none is left standing.
Once the field is fully harvested, a single wheat block reappears each time you cross. Destroy this regrown block several times until a balloon pops up and drifts to the left.

Follow the balloon and copy the dog’s flower order

Chase the balloon to the left to enter a new room. Inside, a dog is attached to a balloon and floats around the space.

Watch the dog as it flies. It points out the flowers you need to interact with and the order they must be touched in.
Interact with the flowers in the exact sequence the dog indicates. Complete the order, and a Watering Can appears in the center of the room.
Use the Watering Can to open a path on the left side of the room. This route leads to the tree room.

Claim the Egg from the man behind the tree

The watered path leads into the tree room where the mysterious man, the Forgotten Man, stands behind the tree. Speak with him to receive the Egg. Work through all of his dialogue, then leave the room. The Chapter 5 secret collectible is now in your inventory.

You will know it worked when the Egg shows up as a Key Item. Its check text describes it as “Not too important, not too unimportant,” consistent with every other egg in the game. Note that the Egg has no combat or puzzle use and will leave your inventory automatically at the end of the chapter, so picking it up is purely for completion.

How the Chapter 5 egg fits the wider pattern

Each chapter hides one Egg in an “in between” area watched over by the Forgotten Man, who typically waits behind a tree. The Chapter 3 version of the character even lists a schedule that doubles as a hint toward the other eggs’ hiding spots.

ChapterEgg location
Chapter 1Hidden Forest room reached by backtracking near the Starwalker walkway
Chapter 2Hidden tree room reached from the dog dumpster in Cyber City
Chapter 3Mancountry, after a multi-step TV World process
Chapter 42nd Sanctuary, in a long hallway of identical windows
Chapter 5Tree room past the Cliffs wheat field and balloon dog sequence

The Sunday line in the Forgotten Man’s schedule, “he harvests the wheat,” lines up directly with the Chapter 5 method. Clearing the wheat field is the trigger that starts the whole chain, so if the balloon never appears, the likely cause is that some wheat is still standing or the regrown block has not been hit enough times.
