The snowy north of Norgan hides a handful of one-off finds that you only get by walking the Forsaken Dominion story and a few of its side quests. These are the fixed pickups along that path, not a sweep of the whole region, and they include the Eternal Wakestone, several Norgan Portcrystals, whole Wakestones, and two rings that reward bare-handed fighters.
Quick answer: You can find the Eternal Wakestone in a stone chest on the Sphinx’s far side at the Shrine of Wisdom; solving the Riddle of the Will unlocks it. Four Norgan Portcrystals are available free as set quest prizes and chest loot.
Eternal Wakestone: behind the Sphinx at the Shrine of Wisdom
The Eternal Wakestone is a magickally charged stone that revives any fallen allies nearby when used, and it weighs 0.5 kg. To reach it, climb the short steps directly behind the Sphinx to the terrace, where several simple stone chests are scattered through the snow among dead bushes.

Continue the main quest Seeking the Sage until you hear the Sphinx’s three riddles. Next, finish Sage’s Wisdom – Riddle of the Will; it tasks you with finding something that embodies resolve in the face of ruin. The item is a decorative brooch inside the mountain stronghold.
Once the log reads “Completed: Sage’s Wisdom – Riddle of the Will,” climb the steps behind the Sphinx and use Open on the stone chest. The pickup line reads “Eternal Wakestone.”

The three riddles the Sphinx poses each unlock their own chest on that same terrace. Solve the matching riddle, then open the stone chest that becomes available.
| Riddle | Chest reward |
|---|---|
| Riddle of the Will | |
| Riddle of the Body | |
| Riddle of the Soul | 3000 Rift Crystals |
Both Sage’s Wisdom – Riddle of the Body and Sage’s Wisdom – Riddle of the Will grant 25,000 XP and 20,000 G on top of the chest they open. The Riddle of the Body sends you north of the village to topple the Mournful Giant and claim one of its tusks for the Sphinx.
Four free Norgan Portcrystals
You can place a Norgan Portcrystal at a spot in Norgan, then use a Ferrystone to travel to that marker. Its weight is 0.5 kg. Portcrystals from the base map won’t work here, and no more than five Norgan Portcrystals can be active across the region at once.
Four of these come as fixed finds along the main path:
- Chilling Tidings reward, paid the moment you reach the Norgandian Settlement, along with 10,000 G and 5,000 XP.
- The chest for the Riddle of the Body is on the Shrine of Wisdom terrace, at the Sphinx’s rear.
- A chest on floor B1F of Mordria Temple, in the bare stone rooms before the sanctum where Willan Barbatos waits.
- After the Fallen Dragon, the Reunion reward is issued in the Norgandian Settlement: 100,000 G, 10,000 RC, and 450,000 XP.
On B1F of Mordria Temple, check the small chest in the first room, next to a carved pillar and an arched doorway, for 32,000 G. The next room has a larger chest against the wall containing the Norgan Portcrystal. You pass through both rooms during Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way.
Captain Brant’s conversation that starts Chilling Tidings only appears at the Stardrop Inn in Vernworth while he is seated, between 17:00 and 05:59, after the main quest Seat of the Sovran is complete.
Fixed Norgan Portcrystal sites across the region
Beyond the portable ones you carry, Norgan has fixed Portcrystal locations already standing at key spots. These give you a ready web of fast-travel points to warp between.

| Fixed Portcrystal location |
|---|
| Norgandian Settlement |
| Rivercave Campground |
| Northwall Campground |
| Castletown Campground |
| Shrine of Wisdom |
| Sealed Study |
| Gagana’s Grotto |
| Lorade Castle |
| Mordria Temple |
Wakestone chests in Norgan
A Wakestone weighs 0.3 kg and brings the dead back to life. After you fall, you’ll see the prompt “Use Wakestone?” Two are inside chests along the route through Forsaken Dominion.
During Soul Searching, look for a raised rock ledge in the Snowfall Valley Derelict Passage. A chest sits beside the cave wall beneath the ledge’s flat rock overhang. It also contains Spoils: Lv 3, Bowstaff, along with Long Weaponry and Light Weaponry.

The second sits on the snowy outdoor ledges you drop onto during Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way. A lone chest stands right at the cliff edge, past the spot where a straggler walks up to you. Open it for the Wakestone.
Ring of Brawling and Ring of Toppling
Both rings reward unarmed combat and each weighs 0.01 kg. The Ring of Brawling raises Strength when you fight with bare hands, and the Ring of Toppling raises Knockdown Power the same way. Every vocation can equip them.

| Ring | Quest reward from | Sell |
|---|---|---|
| When the Culling Gets Tough | 1,500 G | |
| Village Defense | 1,500 G |
You earn the Ring of Brawling by finishing When the Culling Gets Tough, the side quest where you repeatedly cull monsters alongside Dwayne and then rescue his sister Ilsa. It pays 25,000 XP and 500 RC with the ring. The Ring of Toppling comes from Village Defense, paid in the Norgandian Settlement with 90,000 XP and 5,000 RC.
Taillour-Crafte Treatise: Lakeside Grotto
The Taillour-Crafte Treatise is a 0.1 kg text about Norgandian arts from a bygone era. You obtain it during Reaching the Far Shore, a side quest in which Jiera asks you to cross Brine-infested Lake Norgan and retrieve a tome from the cavern on the opposite shore.

At the far end of Lakeside Grotto, enter the chamber strewn with broken furniture. Against the rock wall, a large ornate chest rests on a red rug. Opening it adds “You found the Taillour-Crafte Treatise” to the quest. Later, give the tome to Jiera’s husband, Hal, who can bring the old techniques it describes back to life.

To cross the lake you must draw a ferocious fimbl out to the lakeshore and slay it there, which freezes the water and lets you reach the southern cavern.
Other chests worth the detour
Look in the chest on the exposed roof of the village tower beside the Norgandian Settlement to get the Spirit Compass. It points the way across Norgan even in a whiteout. You reach that rooftop during Seeking the Sage, when your objective is to search the tower for the spirit compass. As you climb, check the darker chest inside the tower for two Regeneration Elixirs.

Late in Soul Searching, a wooden chest beside a snow-capped stone block on a ruined ledge at Mordria Fault holds a Miracle Roborant, which restores a large amount of Health and Stamina. Aymond sells the same item for 7,000 G, so the chest saves you that outlay.

Climbing Hooks turn up as free pickups too. Dorin gives you one after the village tower in Seeking the Sage, another lies in the settlement hut with the Arctic Camping Kit, a third sits in a chest by the cave camp at Northwall Campground, a fourth rests on the floor in the dark stone corridor down to the Sealed Study, and a fifth hangs on the winch post in the wooden winch house during The Castle in the Ice. Aymond prices each at 5,000 G, so every free one is that much saved.
