Drain the Lake: How to Get the Trident Bucket in the Atlantis Update

The Legendary Trident Bucket sits behind an Atlantis puzzle that only opens with the Jewel Bucket.

The Legendary Trident Bucket sits behind an Atlantis puzzle that only opens with the Jewel Bucket.

The Trident Bucket is a Legendary reward added to Drain the Lake in the Atlantis Update, and it is the only bucket in the game locked behind an environmental puzzle rather than a shop price or a craft. To claim it, you have to reach the Atlantis biome, fill a temple bowl with the correct bucket, and open a sealed stone door before anyone else in your server does.

Quick answer: Equip the Jewel Bucket, reach the Atlantis biome (spawns randomly on a checkpoint after Checkpoint 5), fill the Jeweled Bowl to 100/100 L with that bucket, then open the Atlantis Door and press E to take the Trident Bucket from its pedestal.

Requirement: the Jewel Bucket is mandatory

You cannot start the Trident Bucket quest without the Jewel Bucket equipped. It is the only bucket the temple bowl accepts. Any other bucket triggers the message “This bucket is not worthy,” and the bowl refuses to fill.

The Jewel Bucket is a Legendary bucket earned from a secret ending rather than the shop. Reach it by skipping the phone ending and completing the Angler Fish area ending, which is tied to the game’s Hidden Treasure path. Lock this in first, because the rest of the Atlantis puzzle depends on having it in your loadout.

Where the Atlantis biome spawns

Atlantis has no fixed location. The Atlantis Update reshuffles biome and checkpoint order every run, so the biome can only appear on a checkpoint that comes after Checkpoint 5. It might show up right away, much deeper, or not at all in a given session.

There is no way to force it. If a run does not generate Atlantis, leave and start a fresh game. When you do reach it, you will recognize the biome by its green-lit underwater cavern and the large stone Atlantis Door.

How to open the Atlantis Door and claim the bucket

Enter the Atlantis biome with the Jewel Bucket equipped and keep draining water. The Atlantis Door appears partly submerged, showing the text “The bowl is not filled.” That message confirms you are in the right place, even though the door will not open yet.

Continue lowering the water level to uncover more of the biome. As the lake drains, new sections open up and eventually reveal the Jeweled Bowl, a large green bowl holding a golden seashell and labeled “Only one bucket is worthy.”
Equip the Jewel Bucket, scoop water, and pour it into the Jeweled Bowl. The counter climbs in stages toward 100/100 L. Keep pouring until it is completely full.

Return to the Atlantis Door. The text now reads “The bowl is now filled,” with an [E] Open prompt. Hold E to open it, and the temple doors grind apart to reveal the trident inside.
Walk into the hidden chamber. The Trident Bucket floats on a central pedestal with an [E] Take prompt. Hold E to collect it.

How to confirm it worked

When you pick up the bucket, the on-screen message reads “You claimed the Atlantis Trident Bucket! Equip it in the Lobby.” You also unlock two badges in the same moment, the Trident Bucket badge and the Lost Trident badge, along with the badge’s Diamond payout. The Trident Bucket then becomes available to equip from your bucket menu in the lobby.

Its stats reflect its Legendary rank.

BucketEffects
Trident Bucket (Legendary)20% chance to scoop 3x water; +30% token earnings
Jewel Bucket (Legendary)+30% token earnings; pours can turn up Diamonds

Only one player gets it per server

The chamber holds a single Trident Bucket per server session. As soon as one player takes it from the pedestal, it disappears, and no one else in that game can grab it. If you are running with friends, agree on who claims it before you open the door, then move to a new server so the next person can try.

The bowl works differently. Only one player needs to fill it to 100/100 L, and once it is done, everyone in the server can pass through the opened door. So one teammate can handle the pouring while others head to the entrance.

Common reasons the puzzle fails

  • You do not have the Jewel Bucket. The bowl only accepts it and shows “This bucket is not worthy” for anything else.
  • The bowl is not at 100/100 L, so the Atlantis Door still reads “The bowl is not filled.”
  • Atlantis never generated this run. It can only appear after Checkpoint 5, and some runs skip it entirely.
  • Someone else already claimed the bucket in your server, so the pedestal is empty.

One last note on the biome itself. The treasure chests scattered through Atlantis and inside the temple room are decorative only. They cannot be opened and hold no loot, so the Trident Bucket is the sole reward worth chasing here.
