Where to get it and supported platforms
Dungeon Settlers releases on PC through Steam, with builds for both Windows and macOS. It is developed by CanOpener and published by CanOpener and WhisperGames. The game is single-player and supports Steam Cloud and Family Sharing, though Family Sharing stays disabled until the title officially releases.
To be alerted the moment it unlocks, add it to your wishlist on the Dungeon Settlers Steam page. Steam will email and notify you when the store page flips from “Coming Soon” to a purchasable state.

What the Early Access build includes at launch
The launch build ships with the complete core gameplay loop, so you can build a settlement, recruit and manage expedition members, explore dungeons, gather resources, craft equipment, research technologies, and fight in real-time-with-pause combat from day one. It covers the first two dungeon regions, each playable from start to finish.
CanOpener expects the game to stay in Early Access for roughly two years, and that estimate may shift with development progress and player feedback. The price is planned to rise when the game reaches its full release. Planned additions during Early Access include more regions, monsters, weapons, skills, races, and events, along with balance tuning, interface improvements, optimization, expanded localization, and modding support with Steam Workshop integration.

What to expect from the gameplay
You lead an expedition sent by the Guild to reach and destroy the dungeon behind the region’s calamities. Before descending, you build a working settlement on barren, magically eroded land. That means placing walls and doors to shape bedrooms and dining areas, setting up a forge with anvils and smelters, cultivating fields for food, producing rations and camping supplies, and unlocking new buildings and equipment through research.
Parties are limited to four members. Each settler is defined by equipment, six major abilities, combat and life stats, and traits tied to race, background, and personality. You develop them through leveling and equipment, building synergy across skill paths such as sword, mace, bow, and fire magic.
Combat runs in real time with full pause control, and there are no turn or round limits. You can stop the action at any point to read enemy patterns, reposition, and time skills built around effects like stun, bleed, burn, provoke, vulnerability, charge attacks, and summons. Death is permanent. Losing a trained settler removes them for good and can set back the wider colony.
Every expedition is randomly composed, with floors and rooms shifting between runs and regions applying different environmental effects. Deeper areas hold rarer resources such as wood logs, herbs, gemstone veins, and mandrake, but also tougher threats like golems and acid-spitting creatures. Your survival depends on how carefully you manage both your settlers and your resources.
Note: There is no separate demo tied to the launch build, so the Early Access release is the way to start playing on September 4.
