In Enshrouded 1.0, every Shroud Root you chop down gives you one Skill Point. Levelling alone will not fill out a build, so the roots and Elixir Wells scattered across Embervale make up a large part of your power curve. The 1.0 world now spans from the Springlands down to the new Cinder’s Cradle region.

Quick answer: Enshrouded 1.0 places 60 Shroud Roots worth 1 point each. Chop each one with a Felling Axe. Combined with 18 Elixir Wells and levels 2–50, the maximum is 212 Skill Points.

Enshrouded 1.0 maximum Skill Points

Version 1.0 raised the player level cap to 50 and gear to item level 55. It also added Shroud Roots to both the new region and older ones. The full budget comes from three sources.

SourceCountPoints eachTotal
Level-ups (2–50)49298
Shroud Roots60160
Elixir Wells18354
All sources——212

Your starting level does not grant points, which is why only 49 level-ups count. In Early Access, the ceiling was 184. That came from a level 45 cap, 39 roots, and 19 wells. Characters that reached the old cap therefore have 28 more points to earn in 1.0.

The 78 world grants are spread unevenly across Embervale:

How to chop a Shroud Root and confirm the Skill Point

Shroud Roots count as trees, so you need a Felling Axe in your hand. Walk up to the root until the Cut Tree prompt appears. Keep swinging until the root breaks. A Skill Point notification then pops up on screen, and the point is added to your unspent total in the skill tree. Each root pays out once per character.

Skill Points can also be obtained as a Rare currency item. Offer the item to the Flame to receive its power. Clear The Elixir Well is one quest that awards it.

Many roots sit on islands in the Shroud, on cliff edges, or past chasms. Two Workbench tools make the trip much shorter.

  • Glider: Uncommon, item level 5, drains 4 stamina per second while open. Launch it from spires and peaks to fly over ground-level Shroud.
  • Grappling Hook: Uncommon, costs 40 stamina per use. It pulls you across gaps that you cannot jump.

Shroud Root locations by region

The directions below use named map landmarks and cover 56 roots. The 1.0 world holds 60 in total. Some regions have a higher count in the table above than in the lists below: Springlands, Blackmire, Nomad Highlands, and especially Albaneve Summits. If your tally comes up short after finishing every list, search those regions again first.

Albaneve is the region where gliding pays off the most. One root sits on an island in the Shroud, southeast of the Ancient Spire. A Fell Monstrosity guards it, so arrive ready for a mini-boss fight. Another root is in a cave at Camellia Lake Marble Quarry near Rothstep, with a gold chest right behind it. The Howling Peak area and the rooftop of Gateway Outpost “Celeste” are also easier to reach by gliding than on foot.
