Act 4 carries more collectibles than any other act in Gears of War: E-Day, with 41 spread across six chapters. They range from COG tags left beside fallen Gears to posters, documents and keepsakes tucked into side rooms, rooftops and the two open districts. Every one below is listed with the chapter it belongs to and the exact spot it sits in.

Quick answer: Act 4 has 41 collectibles split 13, 2, 14, 5, 2 and 5 across its six chapters. Hold LB for Tac-Com to light up nearby pickups, then press X at the “PICK UP” prompt to log each one.

How collecting and tracking works in Act 4

Walk up to an item and press X at the “PICK UP” prompt. A box slides in at the bottom right reading “<name> Found!” with “View Collectibles” beneath it. To check your progress, open the War Journal > Collectibles screen, which gives each act its own tab (LB / RB) and one row per chapter with a count such as “4 / 5”; anything still missing shows a padlock.

The pause menu lists “Collectibles x/y” for the chapter you’re playing. In the open districts, look to the upper-right corner of the map’s DISTRICT MAP / CITY MAP tabs for “x/y COLLECTIBLES”.

Hope and Ruin collectibles (13)

This chapter runs from Fort Vigil out into the streets around Kalona Square, Cooper Commons, the university and the opera house. The first set of tags arrives on its own, so you only need to search for twelve of the thirteen.

  • COG Tags of Sergeant Major Hank Rustin — the game awards these in the ruined fort courtyard immediately after the opening scene; no pickup is required.
  • Message From The Coalition — in the lower fort courtyard, check the memorial shrine’s stone ledge above the “General Avery Dimascus” plaque; rubble covers the ledge.
  • COG Tags of Sergeant Betsy Barnes — heading toward Kalona Square, look on the blood-soaked pavement before the arched wooden double doors.
  • Regalia Hotel VIP Guest List — in the lobby, check the “REGALIA HOTEL” front desk beside the newspaper stacks.
  • dISPUTE Magazine — in the dark alley behind the hotel, on the ground by the open door of the parked pickup.
  • Anniversary Card and Tickets to Khindago — upstairs at the plaza bookshop cafe, enter the counter room. The item is on a wooden cabinet beneath the mug shelves, with the coffee machine on its left.
  • A Handwritten Letter, in Vasgari — behind the big monument on Cooper Commons’ raised stone terrace, check the ground between the stacked boxes and framed paintings, beside two green bins.
  • COG Tags of Specialist Harrison Alexieff — find the dead Gear beside the round stone tree planter in the elevated court overlooking Cooper Commons.
  • Statuette of Roman Kalona — inside the red souvenir shop, on the counter under the “BUY 2 GET 1 FREE” sign.
  • COG Tags of Specialist Dale Maddoc — search the rubble beneath the university terrace, at the base of the blood-streaked stone wall.
  • Blood Splattered Ulk Plushie — past the tram gate, cross the street from the Crabwaters sign and check behind the dark sedan in front of the police car, on the right.
  • Lighter Darker Opera Program — on the opera house balcony floor, beside the stone balustrade through the broken outer wall.
  • COG Tags of Specialist Mei Aoi — outside the opera house, look behind the white and red ambulance, by the red medical bags. The telephone booth is only a few steps away. Collect the tags before you leave the street.

Technical Difficulties collectibles (2)

This is the metro train ride, and both pickups are out on the platforms rather than inside the carriage.

  • COG Tags of Sergeant Aman Landry — when the train stops at a flare-lit platform and the squad engages enemies from the doors, get down onto the platform. Beside the train, the tags lie on the floor near a dead Gear at the pillar.
  • NO 80 Graffitied Poster — at the ride’s final dark station, head along the platform in the direction opposite the stairs marked by the green EXIT sign. Look above a bench on the tiled wall, beside a pale blue bin.

Tough as Nails collectibles (14)

The open Prospect Bay district holds the largest haul in the act, and the map counter reads x/14. Nine are picked up on the main route within the chapter, so the pause menu reads 9/14 near its end. The War Journal also files the Young Artists Night Poster here, even though you reach it later on the Paths Diverge route just beyond the Grinder gate.

  • A Letter Regarding Armadillos — Seradyne Administration, ground-floor back office with the checkered floor, on the green desk with the printer beside the filing cabinets.
  • R.I.G. Component — in the rail yard, enter the open green boxcar and check the machinery just left of its door.
  • Imulsion Blast Charge — during the Special Cargo secondary objective, open the green hazardous-material container using the Special Cargo code. The charge is inside the open white case.
  • Refiner’s Union Jacket — in the depot office, look by the window for a blue jacket hanging from the metal shelving.
  • COG Tags of Lieutenant Jacob Palma — below the platform, check the brick corner beneath the stairs, beside the headless Gear.
  • Severed JACK Bot Head — in the grated-floor corridor, search the corner under the window beside the dead Gear.
  • COG Tags of Lance Corporal Dalia Avdol — follow the warehouse’s upper catwalk to its far end. The tags rest on the grating beside the brick arches.
  • Seradyne Factory Closure Sign — look in the alley next to Seradyne Armor Assembly, on the red brickwork close to the metal stairs.
  • Port of Kalona Docking Registry — in the control tower’s uppermost room, check the central teal console table.
  • COG Tags of Lance Corporal Calder Hunt — take the stairs inside the Seradyne building to reach the rooftop, where a large dead creature lies. Look for the Gear slumped beside the grey electrical cabinet fitted with dials.
  • Blurry Photo of Locust Attack — climb onto the roof of the blue box truck parked against the building and step through the upper-floor doorway. It is on the floor in the dark corner in front of the shelving, beside the blood pool.
  • Maranday Apple Brandy Bottle — up the stone steps beside the brick building near Seradyne Manufacturing, on the raised service ledge with the crates. It stands on the red metal box with the wrenches, against the brick wall between the pipes.
  • COG Tags of Corporal Goran Ducaine — inside the Armadillo warehouse, head upstairs and take the brick-strewn walkway beyond the tall windows. By a Lancer lodged upright, the tags are on the bloody floor before the grey double doors.
  • Young Artists Night Poster — on the outer wall past the Grinder gate, look beside the metal door bearing the “DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE” sign and green switch box. The Paths Diverge route takes you past this wall, where you can collect it.

Signals collectibles (5)

This chapter moves from the gas station along the gorge trail to Lucas’ hideout. Two of the five sit inside the hideout, so sweep it fully before leaving.

  • Infinity Mints — inside the gas station shop, check the sales counter beside the broken front window.
  • Signed Kalona Eagles Cap — leave the gorge trail for the dead-end rock alcove; the cap rests on the rocks at its back.
  • Pair of Binoculars — follow the gantry walkway toward the radio tower. The binoculars rest on a ledge beside two drink cans, at the bottom of the rusty wall marked with graffiti.
  • Photo of Lucas and his friends — just inside the hideout door, check the cork board beside the Cave Apes gig poster.
  • Lucas’ Handheld Radio — look on the workbench for electronics, beside the small yellow lamp.

Paths Diverge collectibles (2)

This nighttime chapter takes you from the street down to the docks. Its first collectible can be found before the chapter title disappears, so look around before moving on with the squad.

  • COG Tags of Lance Corporal Aniyah Musa — at the start, go across the street, passing the parked car and crowd barrier, then reach the tall slatted metal gate’s corner. The tags lie on the bloody ground at its base.
  • COG Tags of Lance Corporal Ava Wilson — after the dock fight, enter the dock building, go up the yellow ladder and continue along the stairs. By the barrels, check beside the Gear slumped against the metal wall spattered with blood.

Critical Failure collectibles (5)

The final stretch runs through the Timgad Prime Refinery and into Amber Labs. The last item sits in the lab with the blueprints, on the work desk next to the tape deck.

  • Bust of Allfather Decha Timgad — in the lobby, on the reception counter under the “TIMGAD PRIME” sign.
  • Damaged Gas Mask — on the gantry, beside the dead worker and the big grey motor housing, during “Find a way to reach the core / Cross the pipeline”.
  • Tyran Business Monthly — once your objective is “Secure the Area”, leave the main floor through the open doorway and enter the dark control room. Look on the ledge below the wall of gauges and switches for the magazine.
  • Memorandum to Dr. Elliott — in the Amber Labs front office, check the low shelf beside the water cooler, where the binders are kept.
  • Dalia Fabbri’s Research Journal — in the blueprint-filled lab, the journal is on the work desk beside the tape deck.

Confirming your Act 4 count

Picking up an item triggers the “<name> Found!” notification, and its chapter entry changes in War Journal > Collectibles. Compare the chapter counts with 13, 2, 14, 5, 2 and 5 to identify any incomplete chapter. A count under the listed total means collectibles are still missing; the locked tiles and pause-menu tally show how many. Rustin’s tags are awarded automatically when Hope and Ruin begins, so you don’t have to find them. The Young Artists Night Poster is counted for Tough as Nails, even though you reach it on Paths Diverge.
