Soul Splinters are the new socketable items coming to Diablo 4 with Season 15, and they slot into your rings and amulets the same way regular gems do. Each one hands you a strong bonus, adds some elemental or physical resistance, and then charges you for it with a built-in drawback. You might move slower, spend more resource, or take extra damage in exchange for the power.
Quick answer: There are eight Soul Splinters. Each socketed into jewelry, each grants a resistance plus a signature effect with a downside, and each comes in five rarities (Common, Magic, Rare, Legendary, Unique) that can be upgraded in the Horadric Cube.

All eight Soul Splinters and their effects
The values below scale across item quality tiers, so a Unique version is far stronger than a Common one. The four numbers listed represent the higher rarity steps shown so far.
| Splinter | Resistance | Effect (bonus and cost) |
|---|---|---|
| Splinter of Anguish | 250 / 1,750 / 2,625 / 4,375 Fire | +15 / 20 / 25 / 35%[+] Critical Strike Chance and Attack Speed, but Primary Resource Costs increase by 30%. |
| Splinter of Sin | 250 / 1,750 / 2,625 / 4,375 Lightning | +10 / 20 / 30 / 40%[x] Maximum Health, but Maximum Primary Resource drops by 30%. |
| Splinter of Lies | 250 / 1,750 / 2,625 / 4,375 Cold | +40 / 60 / 80 / 100% Gold Drop Rate, Crafting Material Drop Rate, and 25% Bonus Experience, but you are always Weakened and Vulnerable. |
| Splinter of the Black Soulstone | 7 / 20 / 30 / 50 All Stats | Killing enemies absorbs a soul for 15 seconds. Each soul adds 2 / 3 / 4 / 5%[x] damage but 0.5% damage taken. Stacks, does not refresh. |
| Splinter of Pain | 250 / 1,750 / 2,625 / 4,375 Poison | +10 / 20 / 30 / 40% Damage Reduction, but you lose 30% Movement Speed. |
| Splinter of the Mother | 250 / 1,750 / 2,625 / 4,375 Physical | You are Unhindered, and touching enemies makes them Vulnerable for 10 seconds. After touching 100 / 150 / 200 / 250 enemies, you are Stunned for 4 seconds. |
| Splinter of Hellfire | 35 / 50 / 375 / 625 All Elements | +40 / 60 / 80 / 100%[x] increased damage, but you lose 100% Critical Strike Chance. |
| Splinter of Damnation | 250 / 1,750 / 2,625 / 4,375 Shadow | Killing an Elite Pack increases Monster Power by 1 for 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 seconds. |

The penalty attached to each Splinter is the whole point. A 30% resource cost increase from the Splinter of Anguish is not something a spender build can shrug off, and losing all your Critical Strike Chance from the Splinter of Hellfire only makes sense if you were never building around crit in the first place. That makes damage-over-time setups the natural home for Hellfire, since a flat 100% multiplicative damage boost costs them almost nothing.
The same logic runs through the rest. Splinter of Pain trades 30% Movement Speed for up to 40% Damage Reduction, which high-mobility builds can absorb without much thought. Splinter of Sin hands out a big Maximum Health boost while cutting your resource cap, so it fits classes that spend fast and refill quickly. Splinter of Lies is a pure farming tool, pushing gold, materials, and experience while keeping you permanently Weakened and Vulnerable, so you only run it when nothing on screen can punish you for it.
Two Splinters ramp with kills rather than sitting static. The Splinter of the Black Soulstone stacks damage for every enemy you kill and adds damage taken alongside it, which shines in add-heavy content like Helltides but falls off during boss fights where nothing else spawns. Splinter of Damnation raises Monster Power each time you clear an Elite pack, turning dense elite zones into higher-difficulty, higher-reward runs.
Leoric’s Crown boosts socketed Splinters
One of the returning legacy Uniques, Leoric’s Crown, matters here even though it is a helm. In Season 15 the Crown counts as Jewelry and increases the effect of any gem socketed into it by 75-100%. Because Soul Splinters are gems that go into jewelry, the Crown can amplify a Splinter’s signature effect, which is likely to pull a lot of builds toward the same helm.
Rarities, upgrades, and where the numbers stand
Soul Splinters drop in Common, Magic, Rare, Legendary, and Unique quality. There is no Mythic tier for them. Once you have a lower-tier Splinter, you can bring it to the Horadric Cube and push it into a higher rarity, and both the resistance and the bonus values scale up as you do, so the Unique version is always the goal for min-maxing.
Note: These numbers come from Public Test Realm builds and can still change before launch. Blizzard is running the 3.2.0 PTR from August 4 at 10 a.m. PDT to August 11 at 10 a.m. PDT on PC via Battle.net, where the vendor Mrak grants Soul Splinters directly so you can test each one. Anything you see there is a slice of Season 15, with more held back for BlizzCon, so treat the values above as the current state rather than the final tuning.
