FC 26 The Tenant Evolution: Best Players to Upgrade

Requirements, the full three-level upgrade path, and the cards worth spending your one Tenant slot on.

The Tenant Evolution is a free upgrade in FC 26 Ultimate Team that pushes a single lower-rated card toward endgame stats. You get one use only, so the card you slot in matters. It layers big boosts across pace, shooting, passing, and dribbling, but the entry cap and one-shot nature make the pick a commitment rather than an experiment.

Quick answer: Any outfield card rated 96 or lower qualifies. To finish it, play three matches (one per level) with the active EVO player in Squad Battles on Semi-Pro or higher, or in Rush, Rivals, Champions, or Live Events. Strong picks include Ibrahimovic Ultimate Birthday Icon, Zidane Winter Wildcards Icon, Cherki TOTS, and Doue UCL Winners.

The Tenant Evolution entry requirements

The eligibility rules are short, which is why so many high-end cards fit. Only two conditions gate entry.

OverallMax 96

Because the overall cap sits at 96, most special and Icon items in the game slip inside the limit. The only hard exclusion is goalkeepers.

Full upgrade path across all three levels

The evolution runs through three levels. Level 1 focuses on the overall bump and attacking pace, Level 2 rounds out passing and shooting variety, and Level 3 finishes with the on-ball stats. Each entry below shows the boost followed by its cap.

Level 1 boosts

AttributeBoost | Cap
Overall+10 | 98
Acceleration+25 | 97
Finishing+20 | 97
Positioning+20 | 96
Shot Power+20 | 97
Sprint Speed+25 | 97
Skills+4

Level 2 boosts

AttributeBoost | Cap
Crossing+20 | 95
Long Passing+20 | 98
Long Shots+20 | 97
Short Passing+20 | 98
Vision+20 | 97
Volleys+20 | 97

Level 3 boosts

AttributeBoost | Cap
Agility+20 | 97
Balance+20 | 98
Ball Control+20 | 96
Curve+20
Dribbling+20 | 98
Composure+20 | 96

Note: there is no pace boost beyond acceleration and sprint speed after Level 1, and no PlayStyle rewards are attached, so the value comes from the raw stat ceilings rather than new traits.

How to complete each level

Every level shares the same single objective, so the whole evolution takes three matches total.

Set your chosen card as the active EVO player, then play one match in Squad Battles on Semi-Pro difficulty or higher. Rush, Rivals, Champions, and Live Events count as well.
Play a second match under the same conditions to trigger the Level 2 passing and shooting upgrades.
Play a third match to unlock the Level 3 dribbling and agility boosts. Once it lands, the card carries its final upgraded stats permanently.

You know each level worked when the card’s overall and stat values update in your club and the objective marks as complete. The most common reason a level fails to trigger is using a difficulty below Semi-Pro in Squad Battles, so keep it at Semi-Pro or above.

Best players for The Tenant Evolution

The ideal candidate is an attacking card that already sits close to the 96 cap and can absorb the acceleration, sprint speed, dribbling, and passing boosts without wasting them. Some of these require running through other evolution chains first to reach the right base, which is flagged below.

The 96 overall ceiling is tight for an evolution arriving this late in the cycle, and the rigid requirements leave less room to build something creative than earlier chains did. If you already have strong evolution chains sitting in your club, feeding one of those into the Tenant slot tends to give a better return than starting fresh with a mid-tier card.
