Fields of Mistria: How to Get Every Legendary Fish

The exact season, location, and weather conditions for catching all four Legendary fish before your Museum collection needs them.

The exact season, location, and weather conditions for catching all four Legendary fish before your Museum collection needs them.

Legendary fish are the rarest catches in Fields of Mistria, and there are only four of them. One belongs to each season, and each can be caught just once per playthrough. Miss the right day, weather, and spot, and you wait until the season comes back around.

Quick answer: Reach Fishing Level 30, unlock the Tier 3 “Legendary” perk at Caldarus’ Statue on your farm for 80 Essence, then fish the matching water on the correct day. Cherry Fish (Spring pond, windy), Lightning Fish (Summer river, storm), Leaf Fish (Fall river, windy), Snow Fish (Winter ocean, blizzard).

Requirements before any Legendary fish will spawn

Two conditions must be met before the game will ever generate a Legendary fish. Fishing is the slowest skill to level, so start early if you want all four inside your first in-game year.

  • Fishing Level 30. There is no fishing minigame, so every cast that lands on a shadow is a guaranteed catch as long as you press the button when the “!” appears. Fish daily and dive to build the level.
  • The “Legendary” perk. This sits in Tier 3 of the Fishing skill tree. Interact with Caldarus’ Statue on your farm and spend 80 Essence to unlock it. Only after this do Legendary fish begin appearing.

Any fishing rod works, but a longer-casting rod like the Silver Fishing Rod helps you reach distant shadows. Copper or Iron rods are fine if that’s all you have.

All four Legendary fish and their conditions

Each fish is locked to one season, one type of water, and one weather state. Shadow size matters too, so ignore any silhouette that doesn’t match the size listed below.

How to know a Legendary fish is available today

You don’t have to fish blindly. When the season and weather line up, a message reading “A legendary fish is nearby” appears at the start of the day, just below the calendar date and any birthdays. The game also shows a preview silhouette of the fish you can catch that day.

You can plan ahead by checking the weather. A crystal ball furniture item previews the next day’s forecast, so if you see a cherry blossom inside it, the following day will be windy in Spring. When you get the notification, head straight to the matching water.

Where to catch each Legendary fish

Cherry Fish – Spring ponds, windy

The Cherry Fish is a small pond fish that only shows up on windy Spring days, when cherry blossoms drift across the screen. The best spot is the large pond on the Eastern Road, over the bridge on the southern half of the map. If nothing appears, try the smaller pond west of the Manor House in Mistria Town. Watch only for small shadows.

Lightning Fish – Summer rivers, storm

The Lightning Fish is the trickiest of the four because it needs a Summer storm, which is uncommon, and rivers have many possible spawn points. It is a medium-sized fish. The strongest spot is the river under the bridge in The Narrows, south of the museum and Errol’s house. If it doesn’t appear, check the rivers on the Eastern Road, in Mistria Town, or on your farm.

Leaf Fish – Fall rivers, windy

The Leaf Fish is a small river fish that appears on windy Fall days when leaves blow across the screen. It uses the same rivers as the Lightning Fish, but windy Fall days come around far more often than Summer storms, so you’ll usually get more chances. The river on the Eastern Road, at the repaired bridge, is a reliable place to look for its small shadow.

Snow Fish – Winter ocean, blizzard

The Snow Fish is the only Legendary that lives in the ocean. It is medium-sized and appears at the Beach when it’s snowing. Cast from the shore, and don’t forget the small island to the west of the Beach. Pick one spot rather than running end to end.

Tip: If the right-sized shadow isn’t in the water, refresh the area. Leaving and re-entering the location regenerates the fish. For the ocean, stepping in and out of the Tackle Shop or the Beach resets the shadows.

What to do with Legendary fish

Legendary fish can’t be sold or placed in a fish tank in your cabin. Their only use is donating them to the Fish Wing of the Museum. Once all four are donated, you receive a Fish Wing set completion reward, which includes a new piece of furniture, its crafting recipe, and a treasure box. The more Fish Wing collections you’ve already finished, the higher the quality of that treasure box.

If a Legendary fish won’t appear

When you know a Legendary fish should be available but can’t land it, run through this short checklist. Each item is a hard requirement, not a suggestion.

  • The “Legendary” perk is not unlocked yet, so no Legendary fish can spawn at all.
  • The weather is wrong. No amount of fishing works if the day isn’t windy, stormy, or snowing as required.
  • You’re targeting the wrong shadow size. Cherry and Leaf are small; Lightning and Snow are medium.
  • You’re in the wrong water type for the season, such as fishing a pond when the fish only spawns in rivers.

Since each fish returns only once a year, unlock the Legendary perk before your second year begins and keep an eye on the daily notification. With the requirements met and the weather cooperating, all four will fill out your Museum collection over a single full year in Mistria.
