The Spring Festival in Fields of Mistria turns into a flower-collecting contest against Celine, and your final placement depends entirely on how many Breath of Spring flowers you hand over. Beating her means gathering a large stack in a very short window, so the work starts days before you ever set foot in town.
Quick answer: Submit 50 or more Breath of Spring to Celine on the morning of Spring 17 to win first place and earn the Special Flower Crown. You need at least 10 just to place on the leaderboard.

When the festival happens and how to enter
Celine visits your farm first thing in the morning a few days before the event and explains the flower-gathering competition. The festival itself takes place on Spring 17. From that first visit until the morning of the festival, Breath of Spring flowers become available through your normal daily activities.
On the morning of Spring 17, Celine returns to collect every Breath of Spring you gathered. Make sure the flowers are sitting in your bag and not stored in a chest, because only what you are carrying counts toward your total. After she takes them, head into town to watch the results announced.
Note: Falling short of 10 flowers makes the game treat you as if you skipped the festival entirely, so 10 is the real floor for placing at all.

Breath of Spring is a bouquet of wildflowers that can drop from almost any activity tied to gaining essence. That includes watering, tilling, and harvesting crops, fishing, chopping trees, catching bugs, and foraging. There is no way to raise the drop rate, so raw volume of actions is what matters.
The Mines are the most efficient place to grind. Breaking rocks and ore deposits gives frequent chances at the flower, and a focused run can net around 20 in a single day. You need Town Rank 10 (Stone reputation) to unlock the Mines; if they are still closed, speak with Errol at the museum.

Inside the Mines, prioritize speed over resources. Break as many rocks as you can, and if you only have a worn pickaxe, target rocks that already have cracks. Copper nodes are not worth the time unless you need the material for a quest.
Fight enemies you pass, since combat costs no stamina, but back off if you are close to fainting to avoid losing the next day. Grab the stamina boost from the Dragon near your house for an extra +10 each morning, and lean on the Full Restore skill to squeeze out more time once your bar runs low. Picking berries and other forageables also costs no stamina, so use those to keep collecting after mining wears you out.
Tip: Aim for at least 20 flowers a day across your run so you comfortably clear the 50 needed for first place even if a day goes badly.
Placement thresholds and prizes
Your rank is decided purely by the number of flowers you submit, with Celine as your main rival. Here is exactly what each tier requires and rewards.
| Breath of Spring submitted | Placement | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| 10–29 | 3rd place | Breath of Spring Planter |
| 30–49 | 2nd place | Breath of Spring Basket |
| 50 or more | 1st place | Special Flower Crown |
Pushing well past 50 can hand you extra items on top of the crown, including additional decorations such as the Deluxe Breath of Spring Wreath alongside the Planter and Basket. You will know you won when the results cutscene plays and the completion prompt appears with your floral rewards.
Every festival stall and item
Once the contest wraps, the festival stalls open with seasonal goods you cannot buy anywhere else. Nora handles souvenirs and decorations, Elsie sells festival clothing, and Maple runs the food and drink stand. A higher flower count unlocks more stock, so a weak showing can lock certain items like the Spring Festival Top Hat out of the menu.

The one item worth buying first
Out of everything on offer, Scent of Spring from Nora’s stall is the standout purchase. It is a gift that nearly every villager loves, which makes it one of the fastest ways to raise friendship with multiple townsfolk at once. At 500 Tesserae it is worth stocking up while it is available.
Floral Tea and Tulip Cake from Maple are also liked by everyone, so they make solid backup gifts if you want more relationship-boosting items. Everything else at the festival is cosmetic clothing or furniture, so prioritize the flowers and the gift items, then grab the decorations you like. You can find more about the game on the official Fields of Mistria site.
