Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave – Best Theodora Team Build (Part 1)

The optimal Part 1 lineup around Queen Theodora, with her class path, abilities, support units, battalions, and combat positioning.

The optimal Part 1 lineup around Queen Theodora, with her class path, abilities, support units, battalions, and combat positioning.

Queen Theodora anchors her Part 1 army as a frontline wall who also throws out powerful ranged Blaze Arts. Her team is built to keep her fed with kills, protect her flanks with a caster and healer, and clear priority threats before they reach the line. Get her class path and support roles right early, and the rest of the roster falls into place.

Quick answer: Route Theodora through Soldier, Archer (for Crescendo), Armored Knight, and Light Cavalry into Guardian or Dreadnought, then surround her with Bonaventure, Tobias, Lysander, Lilian, and Sofia.

Theodora’s class path and core kit

Theodora’s identity is high Defense, frontline durability, and her Blaze Arts. Her personal Mahadu’s Right Arm grants +6 Strength, which pushes her physical output well past a typical tank. At Level 40 as a Guardian she carries HP 67, Str 36, Def 32, and a combat rating around 219, with a 1-2 attack range on her spear.

Her Blaze Arts are the reason she stays a threat from range. Earthen Throw costs 7 HP for 55 physical at 1-5 range, Earthen Hurl costs 13 HP for 65 physical at 1-7 range, and Dazzling Comet costs 20 HP for 70 physical at 1-5 range as a piercing line attack. Underworld Calm resets the Blaze Gauge to 0 when you need to manage it.

The class progression is a training order, not a strict promotion ladder. Take her through Soldier first, then Archer at the Inn to pick up Crescendo, which grants Hit+3 per kill up to +30 and offsets the accuracy penalties on heavy combat arts without diluting her defensive growth. From there, Armored Knight and Light Cavalry build the certification you need before settling into Guardian.

Guardian is the recommended advanced class if you have finished Dietrich’s route, since it pairs spear mastery with white magic healing (Heal, Physic, Seraphim). If you want a pure tank instead, Dreadnought is the ideal endgame pick for Part 1.

Set her abilities to Brace, Bolster Health, Spears Lv. 3, Direct Hit, and Crescendo. Direct Hit has a 30% chance to add +10 damage to Blaze Arts, fitting her frequent ranged attacks. Equip Tempest Spear, followed by Protective Storm and Wrath Strike, then Brilliant Strike, then Armored Blow, finishing with Full Moon.

Keep her inventory stocked with Javelin+1, Mahadu’s Spear+1, and Da Mina Spear for spear coverage, plus a Killing Edge and two Vulneraries. Her spell slots hold Seraphim and Heal, giving her limited self-sustain and emergency support even on the front line.

Weapon durability on Mahadu’s Spear+1 and Da Mina Spear drains fast, but abundant smithing stones make repairs cheap, so lean on them freely.

Core supporting cast

Five units form the backbone around Theodora. Each covers a role she cannot fill alone, from magic damage to dedicated healing.

LilianArcherSingle-target sniper

Bonaventure (Ovate)

Bonaventure fills the role of main offensive caster and nearby support. Give him wind and ice spells—Cutting Gale, Wind, Blizzard, and Ice Blade—along with Steady Shot and Additional Intel+. It has a 30% chance to give adjacent allies Hit+20 when they fight. His personal Sage Advice provides nearby allies with Dex+3, so positioning him close to the front improves the group’s accuracy.

Tobias (Brigand)

Tobias is the main axe damage dealer. With Str 39 and All-Out Attack, which multiplies combat art damage by 1.3 on a 30% trigger, plus his personal Power Arts, he hits hard enough to close out bulky enemies. Round him out with Absolute Defense and Regroup for staying power.

Lysander (Bardinger)

Lysander is a mounted harasser and debuffer. Distraction shaves 3 Hit off enemies, while Accelerate+ grants Spd+2 per kill up to +10, so he snowballs into a fast finisher. Knightly Senses and Racing Attack round out his mobility-focused kit for picking off exposed targets.

Lilian (Archer)

Lilian is built to pick off flying enemies and mages from a distance. Choose Steady Shot, then Upper Hand. Take Read the Winds, followed by Crescendo, and finish with Curved Shot. Her personal Safety First grants her Hit+10 whenever an enemy cannot counter, keeping chip damage and finishing attacks reliable.

Sofia (Bishop)

Sofia is the optimal dedicated healer. Combine Distant Healing+ for Rng+2 on heal spells with her personal Healing Knowledge for +10 HP restored, and she can cast long-range Physic from safety. Keep Blizzard on her for occasional chip damage when nothing needs healing.

Secondary units to rotate in

Three bench options flesh out deployment slots depending on the map. Each fills a niche the core five leave open.

  • Noctula (Pugilist): high Strength brawler with Qiankun Circles and Iron Gauntlets+1 for close-range pressure.
  • Alexandra (Wing Soldier): a flier who uses Soar and Protecting Wings to hunt enemy mages.
  • Dante (Shaman): Thunder magic caster with Stage Directions and Dramatic Effect for extra offense.

Seteth, Dadao, and Ninae also make serviceable bench recruits if you need to fill out a larger deployment or cover a specific gap.

Battalions, gambits, and blessings

Theodora’s path is the only one that assigns Battalions to units, which grant bonus stats and a Gambit with limited uses per battle. Prioritize Mage Instructors for the Scattering Ice X-shaped AoE and Adept Archers for Disturbing Volley to immobilize dangerous enemies. Priest Trainees add Splash Recover for group healing, and Alecto Morningstars offer All-Out Offensive if you want more burst.

For blessings, Kalla’s Blessing grants Avo+50, Spd+5, and Mov+2 for one turn at a cost of 20 Divine Sand, ideal for repositioning or dodging a turn of aggression. Jurah’s Blessing neutralizes a foe’s effective damage and blocks follow-ups and criticals for just 7 Divine Sand, which is a cheap safety net for Theodora when she holds a choke.

How to play the team in combat

The team plays around Theodora soaking aggro while support units buff and clean up from behind her. Positioning is what makes the composition work.

Place Theodora on dense brush or a choke point so she absorbs enemy attacks and controls where the fight happens.
Cluster Sofia and Bonaventure within one to two tiles of her to keep the Hit and Dex auras active and heals in range.
Open with Earthen Throw or a spear like Da Mina Spear to secure early kills and start stacking Crescendo Hit bonuses.
Use Lilian and Lysander to remove enemy mages and flyers before they can punish your slower units.
Once enemies line up in a corridor, fire Dazzling Comet to pierce the whole row at once for a swing in your favor.

You will know the build is running correctly when Theodora survives enemy phase with her Crescendo Hit stacks climbing and her Blaze Arts landing without whiffing. A clean skirmish, like the six-turn Axion Gorge run near Dagsion, will typically end with Theodora as the stage MVP.
