Fisch Boat Racing Update: Everything the Latest Leaks Reveal

The weekend update brings racing and rod masteries, while leaks tease the anniversary event and FischFright.

Fisch, the open-world fishing game on Roblox, is getting a boat racing system and a fresh set of rod masteries in a weekend update the development team is openly calling one of its lightest releases yet. The framing matters: this is a filler drop meant to give players something new to do while the studio pours its energy into much bigger seasonal events lined up behind it.

Quick answer: The weekend update adds a competitive boat racing mode and new rod masteries. Larger content, including the anniversary event and the Halloween “FischFright” expansion, is still in development.

What the boat racing update adds to Fisch

Boat racing is the headline feature. Developer Nick confirmed the two additions directly in the game’s Discord, writing that boat racing and masteries were coming “this weekend” in what he described as “one of our lightest updates yet.” Boats are already central to Fisch as the main way players cross the ocean between islands, so a dedicated racing mode gives the game’s large boat roster a purpose beyond travel and cosmetics.

The mode points toward competitive play, with racing likely to award its own rewards. Fisch already ties certain boats to progression systems, including boats unlocked only by completing specific rod masteries, so a racing feature slots neatly into that existing structure.

What the leaked racing track shows

A leaked screenshot of the course gives the clearest picture of how racing will play. The track is water-based and hugs a coastline, lined with red spherical boundary buoys that mark the lane. Sharp rock spires and spikes rise out of the water as obstacles, with cliffs framing the edges and a small yellow-and-white speedboat sitting on the course.

The buoy lanes and spike hazards suggest a timed or position-based race rather than a simple open sail, rewarding boats with strong speed and steering. Fisch’s boat stats already track speed, steering, acceleration, and durability, so faster hulls with tight handling would have a clear edge on a course like this.

Rod masteries in the same update

Alongside racing, the update adds new rod masteries. Masteries reward players for maxing out specific rods and, in several existing cases, unlock exclusive mastery boats tied to that progress. Which rods receive masteries this time was left open, and the community has been predicting the likely candidates.

Because masteries feed directly into boat unlocks, pairing them with the debut of boat racing gives players a reason to grind rods and then put the resulting boats to use on the new course.

Anniversary event teasers

Leaked assets point to a Fisch anniversary event that is set to be larger than the previous year’s celebration. The teased models lean into a birthday party theme, and several distinct pieces have surfaced:

  • A sprinkle-covered square creature, described as a cake-style monster
  • A fish wearing a party hat and a blowout horn
  • Party cupcakes and a burning candle prop

Fisch launched on October 5, 2024, so an anniversary celebration falls naturally around that window. The party-themed models suggest festive catches and decor rather than a full new region.

FischFright and the new Treats currency

The studio is chiefly working on “FischFright,” an expansion for Halloween. In an official preview, the player interface appears beside a carved Jack-o’-lantern perched on wooden stilts, with a broad cleaver lodged in its head. The clearest confirmed feature is a new event currency, Treats, shown on the interface with its counter at zero.

A dedicated seasonal currency mirrors how Fisch has run past events, where limited items and boats were purchased or earned using event-specific tokens. Treats would serve the same role, gating FischFright rewards behind participation in the event.

Nate’s separate MMORPG and the Blade quest rumor

Two community rumors were also addressed. Lead developer Nate is working on a completely separate open-world MMORPG project, unrelated to Fisch and outside the Roblox simulator genre. It is a distinct game, not an addition to Fisch.

The second rumor, that “Nate’s Blade quest” would arrive with the boat racing update, was debunked as false. The quest is planned for a later date and is not part of this weekend’s drop.

Taken together, the picture is clear: a lightweight weekend update centered on boat racing and rod masteries, with the studio’s heavier work reserved for the anniversary celebration and the Halloween FischFright expansion still in the pipeline.
