The Crazy Cat Lady is a quest NPC tucked inside the Underground Music Venue in Fisch, and her three-part Kitten Kerfuffle questline gates some of the game's most useful cat-themed gear, including Nico's Yarncaster fishing rod. Each interaction throws a randomized riddle at you, and the only way forward is handing over the exact fish she's describing.
She's located inside the Underground Music Venue at coordinates 2011, -644, 2462, reachable through the Depths and Crystal Cove. You'll need to have already found the strange whirlpool route into the Depths before you can talk to her.

How the Kitten Kerfuffle quest works
There are three quest parts, and each part draws one riddle from a fixed pool of five possibilities. You don't have to solve every riddle in a part, only the one you're given. Hold the correct fish in your hand while interacting with her, and the dialogue line "I think I see it in your hand!" confirms she'll accept it.
If she says, "I'm not seeing the fish I'm looking for, honey," you're either holding the wrong fish or the wrong variant (mutation prefixes like Shiny, Electric, or Abyssal matter). You can ask her to repeat the riddle through the dialogue option without losing progress.
Kitten Kerfuffle Part 1 riddles and fish
| Riddle | Required fish |
|---|---|
| In glassbound night where starlight weaves, a galaxy swims beneath black seas. | Shiny Celestial Koi |
| Intricate patterns light the abyss below, reflections of art, bathed in a cerulean glow. | Atlantean Mosaic Swimmer |
| Within Poseidon's storm, the void grows electric, weaving death's beauty through the darkest depths. | Electric Void Angler |
| Winged through sunlight, halos crown its fleeting flight, an angel skimming waves, dancing with the light. | Shiny Flying Fish |
| An emperor among coral, it reigns with abyssal might, teeth and fins of terror, sovereign of the light. | Abyssal Coral Emperor |
Completing Part 1 awards the Sacred Cat lantern.

Kitten Kerfuffle Part 2 riddles and fish
| Riddle | Required fish |
|---|---|
| In the quiet deep, a soft lunar glow plays, dancing on gills that map the night's hidden maze. | Lunar Midnight Axolotl |
| In the shadowed altar, a frozen shadow glides, gentle in darkness, swift when angered tides. | Frozen Umbral Shark |
| In twilight's hush, their ashen glow unveils, hidden paths in ruins where mystery prevails. | Ashen Fortune Twilight Glowfish |
| With a carrot in its beak, it moves with grace, rainbow scales shimmering in this quiet place. | Carrot Prismatic Parrotfish |
| In pastel hues where soft light gleams, whiskers drift through iridescent dreams. | Shiny Mosaic Opalescent Catfish |
Part 2 hands over Nico's Yarncaster (fishing rod) along with the Nico companion. The rod has a 30% chance to roll the Skrunkly mutation and brings the cat companion that occasionally catches bestiary fish for you while you fish.
Kitten Kerfuffle Part 3 riddles and fish
| Riddle | Required fish |
|---|---|
| In the dark depths, its glowing eyes ignite, a colossal shadow slipping through the secret night. | Ancient Depth Serpent |
| Hexed and serpent-like, it drifts below, a silent herald where the ocean currents flow. | Hexed Oarfish |
| Frost-wrought blaze beneath mirrored skies, colors dissolve where skrunkly stillness flies. | Skrunkly Aurora Trout |
| A fleeting anomaly hops through the deep, leaping in rhythm where the quiet waters sleep. | Anomalous Rabbitfish |
| Marks like constellations adorn its regal crest, calming the waters where the deep rests best. | Celestial Deep Crownfish |
Finishing Part 3 grants the Clownfish Cat Toy bobber and the Nico's Meowfia title. The bobber gives a 30% chance to apply the Nico's Nyantics mutation, which carries a 5x value multiplier.

Where to catch each required fish
| Base fish | Location |
|---|---|
| Celestial Koi | Atlantis |
| Mosaic Swimmer | Atlantis |
| Void Angler | Atlantean Storm |
| Flying Fish | Ocean |
| Coral Emperor | Grand Reef |
| Twilight Glowfish | Atlantis |
| Prismatic Parrotfish | Calm Zone |
| Umbral Shark | Keepers Altar |
| Opalescent Catfish | Crystal Cove |
| Midnight Axolotl | Desolate Deep |
| Aurora Trout | Cryogenic Canal |
| Deep Crownfish | Atlantis |
| Ancient Depth Serpent | The Depths of Vertigo (Absolute Darkness event) |
| Oarfish | Ocean |
| Rabbitfish | Ocean |
Best ways to roll the required mutations
Most riddles ask for a specific mutation prefix on the base fish, and that's where the grind sits. Stack the right rod or enchant for the mutation you need before fishing.
| Mutation | Best roll sources |
|---|---|
| Shiny | Chrysalis 20%, Destiny Rod 10%, Blessed Enchant 5%, Axe of Rhoads 5% |
| Electric | Storming Enchant 50% in Rain, 15% naturally in Grand Reef |
| Abyssal | Rod of the Depths 30%, Abyssal Spectre Rod 25%, Abyssal Enchant 10% |
| Atlantean | Trident Rod 30% |
| Lunar | Astral Rod 5%, Event Horizon Rod 5%, Moonlight Mirage 0.63% |
| Frozen | Arctic Rod 100%, Summit Rod 40% |
| Ashen Fortune | Volcanic Rod 25%, Magma Rod 10% |
| Carrot | Carrot Rod 5%, Carrot Pools 5% |
| Mosaic | Natural odds / Appraisal 0.36% |
| Hexed | No-Life Rod 50%, Original No-Life Rod 20% |
| Skrunkly | Nico's Yarncaster 30% |
| Anomalous | Anomalous Enchant 20% |
| Celestial | Celestial Rod 100%, Heavenly Sparkles event 5% |
The Arctic Rod and Celestial Rod both guarantee their respective mutations, which makes the Frozen Umbral Shark and Celestial Deep Crownfish riddles the cleanest to brute-force if you have those rods unlocked.

Hidden bonus reward
There's an off-script interaction worth knowing. If you walk up to the Crazy Cat Lady while holding a Shiny Harmonized Catfish, she'll respond with "car :3" and hand over the Sleepy reward. It's separate from the Kitten Kerfuffle quest chain and doesn't require completing any of the three parts.
Once all three parts are done, her dialogue shifts to a simple thank-you line, confirming the questline is finished. The Yarncaster from Part 2 is the most impactful reward for everyday fishing, while the Clownfish Cat Toy bobber from Part 3 is the standout for anyone chasing high-multiplier catches.
