Flamefeather Valley 100% Exploration Guide (Genshin Impact 7.0)

Every Cryoculus, treasure chest, Shadow Windrop, and teleport waypoint needed to fully clear Snezhnaya’s warm underground region.

Flamefeather Valley is one of Snezhnaya’s sub-regions in Genshin Impact Version 7.0, and it looks nothing like the frozen tundra around it. It sits underground, runs unusually warm, and trades white snow for a red, autumn-tinted look. Full exploration here means clearing a fixed set of collectibles, waypoints, and challenges while using the region’s elemental firearms combat mode.

Quick answer: To hit 100%, activate the Statue of the Seven and all 5 Teleport Waypoints, collect all 14 Cryoculus, open every treasure chest, clear the Ice Quarry Shadow Realm by collecting 14 Shadow Windrops, and finish the required world quest so quest-locked chests can appear.

Unlock Flamefeather Valley before you start

Flamefeather Valley is gated behind the Snezhnaya world quest chain “In the Dwelling of Life,” released alongside Version 7.0 on August 12, 2026. That chain becomes available once you activate the Statue of the Seven in Snezhnograd, which you reach through the Great Deeds on the Tundra subquest of the Everwinter Without Mercy Archon Quest.

Start it by approaching the Volkodlak on the frozen pond just south of the Statue of the Seven in Morepesok. You can fast travel close using the Morepesok event waypoint or by taking the Train to Morepesok Station. Finishing the world quest opens the region and clears the obstacles that block several interior chests, so complete it first to avoid backtracking.

Note: Combat in Flamefeather Valley is locked to the elemental firearms mode. Many collectibles rely on shooting purple targets, building a Grappling Gun to reach high ledges, or placing a launching platform to glide upward.

Start at the northern coast to activate the Statue of the Seven, which lights up the map and reveals nearby waypoints. From there, work through the region so the five waypoints, all chests, and every Cryoculus are handled in one pass. A viewpoint marker in the area also unlocks the “Fiery Plumage Valley” archive entry.

Treasure chest breakdown by rarity

The 35 chests come from open-world spots, defeated enemies, and puzzles such as a Seelie chain, a beam-linking construct puzzle, and a rotating valve that powers a lift. A few sit behind combat, including a Cryo Regisvine-type boss (“Teeming Mire”) and groups of elemental slimes with a Whopperflower.

Shadow Windrops and the Ice Quarry Shadow Realm

The Ice Quarry Shadow Realm is the region’s main challenge. You collect 14 Shadow Windrops by shooting purple targets and enemies with your firearm inside the realm. Additional purple targets are scattered across the valley, often near caves, towers, bridges, and waterfalls, and several unlock a nearby chest when you shoot them.

Because this content depends on the firearms mode, make sure it is active before you engage a target. The challenge completes once all 14 Windrops are collected, and cleared targets stop appearing on the map.

Cryoculus and the Statue of the Seven

All 14 Cryoculus are needed for full collection. Many float above wooden structures, icy cliffs, rooftops, and caves, so you will use launching platforms to glide up or drop down from bridges to reach them. Turn in Cryoculus at the Statue of the Seven to raise its level.

Each Statue upgrade pays out Shrine of Depths Keys, Primogems, and Acquaint Fate. Use a key on the region’s Shrine of Depths for its one-time reward.

Named rewards worth grabbing

Beyond the standard collectibles, two named pickups are easy to miss.

  • Gunstock blueprint: A glowing blueprint on a table gives the “Gunstock” firearm accessory. You can craft it immediately after picking it up.
  • Radiant Spincrystal 199: Found on a desk inside a wooden tower, next to one of the Mora Chests.

How to confirm 100% and why it can stall

Open the map and check the exploration percentage for Flamefeather Valley. It reads 100% only after the Statue of the Seven, all waypoints, every chest, all Cryoculus, and the Shadow Realm challenge are done. Mora Chests and loose pickups do not directly move the percentage, but they are often tied to chests or challenges that do.

If you stall just short of 100%, the usual cause is a chest still locked behind the “In the Dwelling of Life” world quest, or a purple target you never shot because the firearms mode was off. Clear the quest chain, sweep the interior tunnels and sewers it opens, and revisit any Shadow Realm target you skipped to close the gap.
