Ilda, a young resident of the Norgandian Settlement, starts Flight in the Night in Norgan. She wants to stay with the commission that came from Vermund. She asks you to get her out of the village after dark and bring her to the Vermund scholar heading the commission. The trip involves three brief gift stops, a fight, and a letter to take back home.

Quick answer: Hear Ilda out in the Norgandian Settlement and pick “Wait for nightfall.” Lead her to three marked spots, defend her from the monsters that attack, escort her to Polyeidus, then hand her letter to Dorin for 70,000 XP and 2,000 RC.

Ilda asks for an escort and offers “Wait for nightfall.” or “Decline”; at night she leads to the Norgan salmon, the glowing winterweed blossom and the coldstools; in the Sealed Study the banner reads “You escorted Ilda to Polyeidus’s quarters.” and a Letter to Dorin is handed over; Dorin takes it on the Deliver screen for “+70000 XP” and “2000 RC”.

Before you start Flight in the Night

This quest is part of the Dark Arisen content and takes place entirely in Norgan. Ilda will walk up to you on her own in the Norgandian Settlement and open the conversation, so there is no prompt to hail first.

  • We were offered it with Ilda’s earlier side quest Oh, to Be in Vermund already complete.
  • The escort ends at Polyeidus in the Sealed Study, where he is once the main quest Sealed History is complete.
  • Be ready for a fight: monsters ambush the party at the final gathering spot.

You do not fish, pick, or gather anything at the three stops. Simply reaching each marked place with Ilda is what advances the quest, because she collects the produce herself during her own dialogue.

Complete Flight in the Night step by step

In the Norgandian Settlement, let Ilda approach you and hear her request. She asks to be escorted to the scholar and explains she must leave at night while her father patrols.

When the choice appears, pick “Wait for nightfall.” The other option is “Decline.” She replies, “Splendid! Let us pass the time here till we can be underway,” and the game fades time forward to night.

Outside the village at night, Ilda says she wants to collect gifts of local produce along the way and marks a fishing place in the river shallows. The objective reads “Find the fishing spot Ilda described.” Lead her south-east to the river shallows. She follows on foot with a lantern, and her follow prompt is “Hail (Hold to Talk).” At the water she wades in and takes the salmon herself, and the banner “You found the Norgan salmon.” appears.

The “Hail (Hold to Talk)” prompt lets you talk to Ilda while she follows you to the fishing spot.

The dark trek between stops can put enemies in your path, so keep your weapon ready as you move Ilda from one marker to the next.

Ilda next asks for winterweed blossom, which she says glows in the dark, somewhere east of the fishing spot. The objective becomes “Find the clump of winterweed Ilda described.” Head east to the foot of a snowy cliff. From below you can see pale blue glowing plants on top. Ilda calls out, “Look! Do you see yon glow, atop the cliff? That must be the winterweed blossom!” and the banner “You located the clump of winterweed blossom.” appears.

Up beside the glowing blossoms, Ilda notes the blossom is very rare before remembering coldstools, “an exceedingly rare variety of mushroom,” growing by the roadside a little way back from the path. She marks a rough spot on the map.

The objective updates to “Find the place with coldstools Ilda described.” Head back to the west-south-west to a rocky bank with a tree and a large animal’s rib bones, where red-capped mushrooms grow in the grass. The banners there appear in order: “You learned details of the coldstools’ location.”, “You located the building near the coldstools.”, and “You found the coldstools.” Ilda confirms, “Yes, this is the place!” and adds that frigid fungi grow here too, with coldstools being the rarer of the two.

Right after the conversation, the objective changes to “Defend Ilda.” She cries, “Oh no! Help!” when monsters attack. Defeat every attacker; the group can include Beorcans, Direwolves, Stout Undead, and Aethons. When the area is safe, she thanks you and says you should head for the scholar’s lodgings.
The task now reads “Escort Ilda to Polyeidus’s quarters,” with the destination marked at the Sealed Study, far to the north-west, beyond the Mountain Stronghold. Ilda moves slowly and pauses if you get roughly 15 metres ahead, so stay near her. The quest remains active after daybreak, despite her earlier mention of reaching the scholar before dawn. Entering the Sealed Study chamber with her triggers a conversation automatically.

Polyeidus says, “Oho! It appears not everyone in the village sees us as their enemy,” accepts Ilda, and tells her she can help the soldiers run the campground below. Ilda thanks you, says she will gather materials and open a sort of shop, and asks you to pass a letter to her father. The banner “You escorted Ilda to Polyeidus’s quarters.” appears, the Letter to Dorin is added to your inventory, and the new objective reads “Deliver the letter to Dorin.”

Back in the settlement Dorin comes to you by himself.

After his lines the Deliver screen opens, reading “Delivery” and “Specified Delivery Only.” The slot shows x0/1 until you select the sealed Letter to Dorin, which weighs 0.01 kg, after which it reads x1/1. Choose “Deliver,” then answer “Yes” to “Do you wish to deliver your selection?” Dorin recognises her handwriting and accepts that she has gone to stay with the commission.

Reaching the Sealed Study does not complete the quest; you still need to take the letter to Dorin.

Rewards and how to confirm completion

Once Dorin takes the letter, the quest closes out. The reward lines on screen show +70,000 XP and 2,000 RC, with no item among them.
