Forest of Spirits in LEGO Fortnite: Where to find it and Oni Elder tips

The Forest of Spirits is the Ninjago-themed biome added to LEGO Fortnite Odyssey alongside the Embers of Chaos content. It's where players gather dragon opal, run into Oni Elders, and progress Asher's quest chain. Finding it trips up a lot of players because the biome sits tucked beneath the monastery rather than out on the open map.

Quick answer: The Forest of Spirits is directly below the monastery. Glide off the monastery toward the ice sanctum and you'll land in a zone of pink and reddish-leaved trees with mountains that hold dragon opal and steel.

Where the Forest of Spirits is located

The biome sits in the lower terrain beneath the monastery, before you descend all the way to the ice sanctum. The defining visual cue is the tree canopy. Instead of the usual green, the leaves here read as pink or reddish, which makes the zone easy to pick out from the air.

The fastest way in is to launch from the monastery and glide in the direction of the ice sanctum. You don't need to reach the sanctum itself. Drop into the hills and mountain slopes with the colored foliage and you're in the right spot.

What you can gather there

The Forest of Spirits is the main source for dragon opal, which spawns as small, pale stones embedded in the surrounding hills and mountains. Steel also shows up in the same area, so a single trip can cover two resource needs at once.

SteelSame rocky terrain as opalStandard ore nodes
Tip: fly across the slopes rather than running them on foot. The nodes are small and easier to spot from a glider than from ground level.

Asher's quest and the Oni Elder fight

One of Asher's quests in the Ninjago Embers of Chaos content sends you into the Forest of Spirits to take down an Oni Elder. It's a tough mob compared to regular enemies in the biome, but the fight becomes significantly easier with the right weapon.

Bring a Katana. The Katana trivializes the Oni Elder encounter compared to using generic melee gear. If you have access to the Ninjago weapon set through the update, equip the Katana before engaging.

Note: Don't try to tank the Oni Elder with a low-tier weapon just because you're already in the area. Go craft or retrieve a Katana first β€” the fight is meant to be approached with Ninjago-era gear.

How to confirm you're in the right biome

If you drop down and the trees are still green, you've gone too far or landed in the wrong direction. The Forest of Spirits reads as a distinct color band on the landscape. Pink and red foliage, rocky hill formations, and visible dragon opal nodes on the slopes are all signs you're in the correct zone.

If you see the ice sanctum's structures in front of you, turn back slightly. The forest is between the monastery and the sanctum, not past it.

Common reasons players can't find it

ProblemWhat's happeningFix
Searching the wider mapThe biome is tied to the monastery area, not scattered across the worldReturn to the monastery and glide down from there
Overshooting to the ice sanctumGliding too far past the forest layerDrop earlier, into the colored tree canopy
Looking for green woodsThe biome uses pink/red foliageFollow the colored leaves as your landmark

Once you've pinned down the pink-tree layer below the monastery, the Forest of Spirits becomes one of the more efficient zones in the game: dragon opal, steel, and Asher's Oni Elder objective are all reachable in a single run, provided you bring a Katana for the boss fight.
