Clear the Construction story quest for 10,000 XP by breaking the glass vault without standing under it.

The Aquarium Vault is a glass tank set into the ceiling of a hidden building called The Quackaway, and shattering it is part of the Construction story quest in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3. Breaking the glass drops water and loot into the room below, but the falling debris eliminates anyone caught directly underneath it.

Quick answer: Land at The Quackaway in the southwest corner of the map, step back so you are not under the glass tank on the ceiling, then fire any weapon at it until it shatters. The quest completes the moment the vault breaks while you stand clear.

Aquarium Vault location at The Quackaway

The Aquarium Vault sits inside The Quackaway landmark on a small, isolated island at the southern edge of the map, just below Heatwave Harbor. The island rises noticeably higher than the terrain around it, and it is not marked as a named point of interest, so most players fly straight past it.

The Quackaway sits on a raised island south of Heatwave Harbor.

The building is decorated with large character statues, including Fishstick and Wonkee, plus a Fall Guy figure inside. A zipline runs from the top of the rock down to the entrance. Once you are in the main hall, look up. The vault is the glass panel filled with rippling water on the ceiling, and that glass is the only way to reach the loot inside.

How to shatter the vault safely

Drop from the Battle Bus onto the raised island south of Heatwave Harbor and make your way into The Quackaway. Enter through the building and head to the main hall where the vault is fixed to the ceiling.
Move to the side of the room so you are not standing directly below the glass tank. This positioning is the entire point of the quest, since the water and debris crash straight down when the glass gives way.
Aim at the glass and fire. Any weapon from the loot pool works, and a common pistol picked up nearby is enough. Keep shooting until the glass cracks and shatters.

Fire at the glass from off to the side, never from underneath.
Wait for the water to finish pouring out and settle before you walk in. Once the flood clears, the loot is scattered across the floor and safe to collect.

Once the water drains, the dropped loot is left across the room.

Note: Standing under the tank when it breaks eliminates you instantly, and the Boss Sprite will not save you from it. Position first, then shoot.

How to confirm the quest completed

When the glass shatters while you are clear of it, a notification appears on the left of the screen reading “Shatter the aquarium vault, but do NOT stand directly beneath it! Quest Completed,” along with the XP reward. The Construction story then advances to its next stage, which asks you to extract Sprites for The Visitor’s research.

If the quest does not tick over, the only common reason is that you were standing under the vault and were eliminated before it registered, or the glass has not fully broken yet. Reposition to the side and keep firing until the tank cracks open.

Rewards and vault loot

Completing the quest grants 10,000 XP toward the Runners Battle Pass. On top of the quest reward, the vault itself spills a strong pile of early-game loot that makes The Quackaway a solid landing spot.

RewardDetails
Quest XP10,000 XP for shattering the vault
Gold BarsOver 1,000, with hauls reported up to 1,500
WeaponsMultiple pickups, including rare and high-rarity guns
ExtrasAmmo, a Vault Key, and dropped items such as a Flex SMG

The Gold is enough to buy from the nearby Vending Machines right away, and grabbing weapons here also counts toward the “Collect Weapons outside of Named Locations” quest, since The Quackaway is an unmarked landmark rather than a named zone.
