The Protocol Droid event brings a fresh class of droids into Star Wars Droid Tycoon, the Fortnite tycoon mode built by FOAD and Blzn Studios with Epic Games and Lucasfilm. Four protocol droids are up for grabs across four rarity tiers, and the only way to unlock them is by running the timed World Missions that spawn while the event is live. Everything is earned through blueprints, so the grind is repeatable rather than luck-locked to a single drop.
Quick answer: Complete a World Mission — one spawns every 15 minutes during the event — to earn a Protocol Crate containing a protocol droid blueprint, then craft that droid in your workshop. The higher your mission star rating, the higher the blueprint tier you pull.
Event length and start times by region
The Protocol Droid event runs for a full 24 hours, which is the same window used for the C-3PO event earlier in the mode’s life. That length matters because the mission loop is time-gated — a day gives you roughly 96 mission spawns if you stay online, and far fewer if you dip in for an hour.
The rollout is simultaneous worldwide, so it kicks off on a Saturday afternoon in the Americas and lands on Sunday morning across India, Japan, and Australia. No official calendar date has been confirmed for the start.

All four protocol droids and their rarities
Four protocol droids are introduced, each sitting at a different rarity. TDA is the top of the ladder, and C-3PO is confirmed as one of the protocol droids in the lineup. 4-LOM, the bounty hunter droid from The Empire Strikes Back, is also part of the group.

Each droid also comes in seven cosmetic finishes, so the collection target is much larger than four entries. The variants are Default, Gold, Diamond, Rainbow, Beskar, Galactic, and Stellar. Galactic and Stellar are new to the protocol line and sit alongside the Beskar finish that returning players will recognise from earlier events.
How to get protocol droid blueprints from World Missions
Protocol droids are not sold and cannot be pulled from the normal Shipyard pads. They come from World Missions, which appear on a fixed timer while the event is running.
You know the loop worked when the Protocol Crate appears as a mission reward and the blueprint lands in your inventory. If nothing drops, the run was not completed — partial progress does not award a crate.
Star ratings decide which blueprint tier you get
Blueprint quality is tied directly to how well the mission goes. A higher star rating pushes you toward the better blueprints and the higher-tier droids, so a stack of low-rated clears will not get you to TDA quickly.
Four stars is the ceiling, and reaching it means playing in a party. Solo runs cap out lower, which makes grouping the single most effective thing you can do during the event if the Mythic droid is your goal.
Tip: Captain Phasma’s F-11D Blaster and the Amban Sniper Rifle both open up at three Rebirths, and either makes four-star runs far more consistent than the starter weapons.
What protocol droids do once you craft them
Protocol droids are not just display pieces. They slot into two different jobs around the base, and the placement decides whether you get more money or faster builds.

Three global multipliers are active for the whole window, and they apply outside missions too. That makes the event a strong time to push a Rebirth or bank credits, not only to farm blueprints.

Stacking the crafting speed boost with a protocol droid parked behind a crafting station is the fastest way to clear a backlog of builds while the event is live.
Missing the window is not necessarily permanent. C-3PO was set up to become purchasable with Nova Crystals after its event ended, so event droids have a history of returning through the shop. Even so, earning them during the run costs nothing but time, and the doubled credits make that time worth more than usual.
