Track down the snowy-field chest in the southern Shimanoyama region to bank 100,000 Credits and three Season Points.

Track down the snowy-field chest in the southern Shimanoyama region to bank 100,000 Credits and three Season Points.

The current Shimanoyama Region Treasure Hunt in Forza Horizon 6 hands you a vague photo clue and little else. The image shows a snowy field beside a road, with no landmark to lock onto, so the whole challenge comes down to knowing where the chest actually sits. Smash it and you earn credits and Season Points toward this winter’s British Automotive series rewards.

Quick answer: Head to the southern part of the Shimanoyama region, fast travel to the Lake View Speed Trap, turn around, and drive southeast. The chest sits on the left in a snowy field.

Where the Shimanoyama treasure chest is located

At Shimanoyama’s outermost edge, look in the map’s lower-left area, west of Tokyo City. The chest is in an open patch of snow and grass beside a road, rather than inside a building. Use the nearby Lake View Speed Trap and the Taiyaki Scramble Dirt Racing event, located just east of it, to find the spot.

You will need the Orange Wristband unlocked to see these events on the map. Once you do, the fastest route is to fast travel straight to the Speed Trap and drive out from there.

Route from the Lake View Speed Trap

Open your map, move to the southern section of the Shimanoyama region, and fast travel to the Lake View Speed Trap event.
When you spawn in, turn your car around and start driving southeast along the road. Keep your speed sensible so you do not fly past the field.

Watch the left side of the road. The treasure chest is clearly visible sitting out on the snow-and-grass field. Steer off the road and drive into it to smash it open.

Route from the Taiyaki Scramble Dirt Racing event

For an approach from the opposite direction, fast travel to the Taiyaki Scramble Dirt Racing event. Head south, then turn right at the first opportunity. From here, the chest is beside the right side of the road, not the left.

How to confirm you got it

You will know the hunt is done the moment the chest shatters and the reward banner drops onto the screen, adding the credits and Season Points to your seasonal total. If nothing triggers, you likely clipped scenery instead of the chest, so slow down and line up your car directly with it before trying again.

Treasure Hunt rewards

Destroying the chest grants the usual weekly bundle. Season Points are the main reason to go after it, as they help you work toward this winter’s exclusive cars.

RewardAmount
Season Points3
Credits100,000 CR

Those three points count toward the British Automotive winter series, where the reward cars this season are the 2006 Vauxhall Astra VXR and the 2016 Bentley Bentayga. The 100,000 Credits is a solid weekly payout on its own, but stacking points week after week is what unlocks those rare vehicles.

Since the winter photo clues rarely show a useful landmark, lean on the nearby events as anchors and drop your speed as soon as you reach the target field. It is far easier to spot the chest at a crawl than at full throttle.
