From Above is the short scouting quest that follows Coen out of Laslea and puts the surrounding valley on your map for the first time. It is not a difficult quest, but it leans on two things the game has only just handed you — Planeshift traversal and the investigate prompt — so it can stall you if either one hasn’t clicked yet.
Quick answer: Leave Laslea and travel roughly 200m southwest to the tower, kill the soldiers camped at its base, use Planeshift on the scaffolding around the back to reach the top floor, climb the broken walls to the ledge above, then aim your camera at the three white dots in the distance and investigate all three.
What starts the From Above quest
From Above begins the moment Smoke and Ashes wraps up. As Coen walks out of the village, he spots a tower on the horizon and notes that it would make a decent vantage point. That line is the handoff — the quest is already active in your tracker at that point, sitting under the ongoing goal of rescuing your family.

There are three objectives in total, and they run in a fixed order.
| Objective | What it asks for |
|---|---|
| Reach the tower | Travel about 200m southwest of Laslea village |
| Climb the tower | Clear the soldiers, then Planeshift up the rear scaffolding |
| Scout the area | Investigate all three distant points from the top ledge |

Exit Laslea and head southwest. The distance is short — around 200 meters — and the tower is tall enough to navigate by eye once you’re clear of the village buildings. The objective ticks over as soon as you’re close enough, no interaction needed.

If you’d rather not eyeball it, open the map and use your current position marker to line up the heading before you set out. The map is also where you’ll see the payoff later, once scouting fills in the surrounding area.

Clear the soldiers before you climb
A group of soldiers is camped around a bonfire at the base of the tower. Deal with them first. Trying to climb with hostiles still alive underneath you is the main way this quest turns into a mess.
The cleanest opening is a stealth approach. Walk up on one of them from behind and open with an attack before the group notices you — that takes one enemy out of the fight immediately and swings the rest of the encounter in your favor.
Climb the tower with Planeshift
Note: standing on the top floor is not the same as standing on the vantage point. If the scouting prompt never shows up, this is almost always why.
Scout the area and investigate all three points
Once you’re on the ledge, the camera opens up into a wide view over the valley. Scan the horizon and you’ll pick out three white dots scattered across the distance. Those are your targets.
You don’t need pixel-perfect aim. Point the camera in the general direction of a dot and an interaction prompt appears — trigger it to investigate that location.

Repeat for the remaining two. All three have to be investigated — stopping at one or two leaves the objective open, and the quest won’t close out.
How to confirm From Above is complete
The third investigation ends the quest on the spot. You’ll get a “QUEST ENDED — From Above” notification on screen and a small XP payout, and control returns to Coen at the top of the tower.

For a second check, open the map. Scouting adds new points of interest to the surrounding area, so a map that looks fuller than it did in Laslea is a reliable sign the objective registered properly.
Why the investigate prompt doesn’t appear
Three things account for nearly every stuck attempt here.
- You stopped at the tower’s top floor instead of Planeshifting up to the ledge above it.
- The camera isn’t pointed close enough to a white dot for the prompt to register.
- You investigated one or two points and left before finding the third.
From Above is really a tutorial in disguise — it teaches you to read verticality, use Planeshift on climbable geometry, and treat high ground as a mapping tool. The habit pays off well beyond this tower, because Vale Sangora expects you to keep finding your own vantage points from here on.
