“The Frill of the Chase” is a delivery request from Herm, the shopkeeper in the Village. He wants lace, and lace is not something you can dig out of a chest or buy off a shelf. You have to research the sewing line, build two crafting stations in your Yard, and turn raw flax into thread before the recipe becomes available at all.

Unlock Sewing Basics in the Farming tech tree
Open the Tech Tree and switch to the Farming tab rather than Metallurgy. Sewing Basics sits in that branch, and buying it does two jobs at once. It hands you the blueprint for the Sewing Table and it clears the Create Lace recipe, which is why the quest requirement reads as unstudied before you take it.
With the node bought, head to the Yard build menu and place the Sewing Table next to your other workstations. Keep it close to the Spinning Wheel and the Weaving Loom so you are not walking a crafting chain across the map.
The Sewing Table costs iron components to build, so clear that out of your stockpile before you start the flax run.
Where to get Flax for the lace
Check the Spinning Wheel first. Its craft menu lists Flax thread and the raw Flax it consumes, which tells you exactly how much of the crop you still need before anything else happens.
Flax grows in the Garden, and if you already have zombie workers assigned to farming plots, their harvests pile up in the simple chests beside the beds. A mature garden operation can leave you sitting on dozens of stacks, far more than one piece of lace will ever ask for.

Deliver the lace to Herm in the Village
Travel east from your grounds into the Village and find Herm’s Store. A speech bubble over Herm’s head means he is free to talk, and the speak prompt appears once you are standing at the counter.
Pick the dialogue line “Here you go, your new lace.” instead of Trade or Leave. Herm takes the item on the spot and responds with a grudging thanks, joking that he almost wants to pay you for it.
How to confirm the quest is complete
Two things change the moment Herm accepts the lace. The quest clears from your Quests log, and his shop inventory jumps to Tier III, which you can see labelled at the top of the trade window when you reopen it.
That upgraded stock is the real payoff here. Opening Trade straight after the handover puts higher-tier goods such as Chicken Egg and Rhododendron Seedling within reach, and the sewing line you built to get there keeps producing flax thread for whatever textile recipes come next.
