Weather events in Grow a Garden 2 are the fastest way to push up the value of your crops. They appear randomly while you play, last for a set amount of time, and either apply a mutation to your plants, speed up growth, or spawn special seeds across the map. The same weather hits every garden on a server at once, so public and private servers see identical conditions.
Quick answer: Watch the weather icon in the top-right corner and hover over it to read the active event and its bonus. Have valuable crops planted and ready to harvest when a mutation event starts, since each event only runs for two to five minutes.
All Grow a Garden 2 weather events, effects, and durations
The day cycle moves through Sunny, a short Sunset transition, and Night. Sunny lasts about 7.5 minutes with normal growth, Sunset runs for 30 seconds with no effect, and Night lasts around 2 minutes and opens the window for stealing from unlocked gardens. Rain is one of the longest and most common events, running for five minutes. It doubles the growth speed of every plant and rehydrates your whole garden for free. It does not add a mutation, so the best move is to plant fresh seeds and cycle harvests quickly while it lasts.
Lightning
The sky turns grey and lightning strikes the ground at intervals. Any crop that gets hit has a chance to gain the Electric (Shocked) mutation, a high-value multiplier. Keep your plots full and watered to maximize the number of crops that can be struck during the window.
Rainbow
A large rainbow stretches across the map and raises the chance of plants gaining the Rainbow mutation as they grow. Every player also gets a temporary rainbow carpet to move around with. If you have been holding single-yield seeds, plant them now to lift their odds of rolling rainbow.

Snowfall / Blizzard
The ground and sky turn icy and visibility drops while the event runs. Crops have a chance to gain the Frozen mutation. It lasts 2 minutes and 30 seconds, so make sure plants are already in the ground before the cold sets in.

Starfall
Shooting stars fill the sky and fall to the ground for two minutes. During the event, plants have a chance to gain the Starstruck mutation. It is one of the rarer events, so harvest only after stars have had time to land if you want to lock in the mutation.

Gold (Midas) Moon
This is a night-only event. A golden moon appears and Gold Seeds spawn randomly across the map, which you can walk up to and collect. One player is turned into Midas, and the first crop that player steals from another garden becomes a Gold plant. Gold Seeds themselves grow into random plants carrying the Gold mutation.
Rainbow Moon
The night-only Rainbow Moon turns the moon multicolored and the whole lobby rainbow. Rainbow Seeds spawn at random, and you collect them by standing near a seed and holding E. These can grow into any rarity of plant, so gather as many as you can. One player becomes Star-Powered, and their first steal after that becomes a Rainbow plant.

Blood Moon
Blood Moon is a rare night-only event that turns the sky and moon deep red while lasers fall onto the plots. Crops have a chance to gain the Bloodlit mutation, which carries one of the highest value multipliers in the game. It runs for two minutes, so prioritize harvesting affected crops before it ends.

Aurora
Aurora gives crops a chance to gain the Aurora mutation over two minutes. It does not change the moon, so the only way to spot it is to watch the sky for the aurora effect itself.

When weather changes and how to plan around it
Special events trigger at random. Only the Sunny, Sunset, and Night phases follow a fixed cycle, and there is no in-game prediction or schedule for the rest. Because weather is server-wide, joining a different server will not give you better odds of an event.
To get the most out of any mutation event, keep your plots fully planted and watered before it begins. You will know an event is live from the icon in the top-right corner, and hovering over it confirms the name and bonus. Mutation events are the most profitable since they multiply sell value, while Rain is best treated as a growth window rather than a payday.
