The Moon Egg is a Legendary egg tied to the Harvest Moon update in Grow a Garden, which went live on August 1, 2026. It is the only way to hatch four themed pets, topped by the extremely rare Moon Dragon, and it sits among the most sought-after eggs in the game right now.
Quick answer: Buy the Moon Egg from the Harvest Moon Event Shop for 40 Moon Coins or 149 Robux, then hatch it to roll one of four pets. Moon Coins come from selling crops carrying the Moonbeam mutation.

Where to buy the Moon Egg and what it costs
The Moon Egg is stocked in the Harvest Moon Event Shop. You can pay with either the event currency or Robux, so both free-to-play and paying players can pick one up.
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Price (event currency) | 40 Moon Coins |
| Price (premium) | 149 Robux |
| Restock chance | 5% |
Note: the egg carries only a 5% restock chance, so it will not appear every time the shop refreshes. Check back through multiple restocks if it is not listed.

Moon Coins come from selling fruits and crops that carry the Moonbeam mutation. To apply that mutation, you need to run the Harvest Moon ritual, and the more Moonbeam crops you sell, the more coins you bank toward the egg and other event items.
All Moon Egg pets and hatch chances
Each Moon Egg hatches into one of four pets. The Opposum is the common pull, while the Moon Dragon sits at the very bottom of the odds. Here is the full breakdown.

| Pet | Hatch chance | Passive |
|---|---|---|
| Opposum | 55% | Night Support: reduces the cooldown of Night-type pets after they use an ability, so they trigger again sooner. |
| Lunar Moth | 35% | Moonsong: occasionally sings, advancing nearby plant growth each second and restoring hunger for pets in range. |
| Night Horse | 9.5% | Selenic Steed: occasionally sacrifices a random fruit to apply the Moonbeam mutation to other random fruits in your garden. |
| Moon Dragon | 0.5% | Draconis Luna: applies the Moonlit or Moonbeam mutation based on how many Night-type pets you have, with each mutated fruit able to raise a random pet’s level by one. |
How the pets work together
The Moon Egg lineup is built around Night-type synergy. The Opposum shortens Night pet cooldowns, which speeds up how often those pets act, while the Night Horse and Moon Dragon both feed the Moonbeam mutation back into your garden. That creates a loop where more Night-type pets increase the value the Moon Dragon can produce.
Tip: because only three pets can be active in your garden at once, pairing the Moon Dragon with a couple of Night-type pets maximizes its mutation output.
Hatching gives immediate confirmation once the timer completes, showing which of the four pets you pulled. Since the Moon Dragon lands at a 0.5% chance, expect to open a large number of eggs before it appears, and keep farming Moonbeam crops to fund repeated attempts through the Harvest Moon event.
