GTA Online Brand Wars: Every eCola vs Sprunk Event Explained

A rundown of the three soft drink showdowns Rockstar has run, plus how the current Twitch Drops event pays out.

eCola and Sprunk are the two rival soft drink brands that fill vending machines and billboards across the Grand Theft Auto world, and in GTA Online they have become the mascots for a recurring community showdown. There are no gameplay differences between the two drinks. Players simply pick a side, wear the colors, and fight for bragging rights. Rockstar Games has staged three of these Brand Wars so far, each with its own rules and rewards.

Quick answer: Rockstar has run three eCola vs Sprunk Brand Wars in GTA Online. The 2022 event (won by eCola) and the 2023 community drive are over, and the current event runs through August 26, 2026, paying up to $2,000,000 through Twitch Drops.

2022: The first showdown during Brioso 300 Widebody Week

The rivalry started as a real event in 2022, tied to Brioso 300 Widebody Week. Every action counted as a vote for one brand. Players joined either the Sprunk or eCola Crew on Social Club, drank cans of their chosen drink, and bought soft drink themed outfits or car liveries to tip the count in their favor.

Voting closed on September 14, 2022, and both drinks were free to consume for the whole event so no one wasted in-game cash. When the totals were tallied, eCola edged out Sprunk by a small margin. Every player who logged in received the winning brand’s hat, parachute bag, and varsity jacket, along with a $300,000 bonus, regardless of which side they backed.

The eCola twist that spoiled the win

The 2022 result came with an odd footnote. Players who inspected the eCola can in a model viewer spotted text on the back of the label reading that the brand is “property of the Sprunk company.” In GTA lore, that makes eCola a Sprunk product, which flips the real-world relationship between Coca-Cola and Sprite. Some fans argued this meant Sprunk had really won all along.

Others noted the can text also calls eCola a “lemon drink,” which looks like reused wording from the original Sprunk label rather than an intentional lore reveal. The debate never got a clean answer, which is part of why Rockstar kept bringing the rivalry back.

2023: Sprunk & eCola Week turned into a team-up

The next round in November 2023 dropped the competition angle. Instead of two sides fighting, it was a cooperative community challenge with regular weekly bonuses, discounts, and free vehicles layered on top.

The main goal was to collectively drink 100,000,000 cans of Sprunk and eCola before November 29, 2023. Hitting that target unlocked Sprunk and eCola vanity license plates, Sprunk x eCola bodysuits, and a Sprunk x eCola livery for the Mammoth F-160 Raiju. A second challenge asked players to earn around $15,000,000,000 combined through Simeon’s Export Requests by November 15. Because everyone worked toward the same numbers, fans of both brands pulled in the same direction.

2026 Brand Wars Event Week and how the Twitch Drops pay out

The current Brand Wars Event Week is live through August 26, 2026, and it moves the fight onto Twitch. Rockstar assigned select content creators to Team Sprunk or Team eCola, and you earn rewards as Twitch Drops by watching those streamers with Drops enabled.

Rewards are tied to total watch time. Here is how the drops unlock as you rack up hours.

Watch timeReward
2 hours$250,000
4 hourseCola Tracksuit
6 hours$250,000
10 hours$500,000

The catch is that the cash rewards are per team. Watching only one team for 10 hours caps you at $1,000,000. To collect the full $2,000,000 pool along with both the Sprunk sweatsuit and the eCola tracksuit, you need to put in 10 hours on each team.

Alongside the Twitch Drops, everyone gets some free in-game items during the week. You can claim a Sprunk x eCola livery for the Declasse Hotring Sabre, pick up Sprunk and eCola vanity plates at vehicle workshops, and grab Sprunk and eCola bodysuits from clothing stores.

Note: Twitch Drops only credit if your Twitch account is linked to your Rockstar account before you start watching, so link them first or the hours will not count.

Between a vote-based contest, a cooperative grind, and a watch-to-earn week, Rockstar has kept the eCola versus Sprunk rivalry alive without ever settling which drink is truly best. The lore quirk about eCola belonging to Sprunk only muddies it further, which is probably the point.
