Chapter 1 of Halloween: The Game drops Michael outside the Rabbit in Red, and the six optional challenges attached to it are all tied to that bar and the streets immediately around it. None of them require a special build or a second playthrough, but two of them are easy to lock yourself out of if you rush the fight inside and then walk straight into the next story beat.
Quick answer: Kill every person inside the Rabbit in Red except the one scripted to flee, shove a biker off balance, kill a target with a broken pool cue, wall-pin a biker for a context execution, throw the kitchen cleaver at a target, and kill three residents outside the bar. All six can be done in a single run of the chapter.
All six Chapter 1 challenges and what triggers them
| Challenge | Completion condition |
|---|---|
| Kill Everyone inside the Rabbit in Red | Every biker and civilian in the building dies; the one who escapes as part of the story is exempt |
| Use Shove to stumble a biker off balance | One successful shove prompt on any biker |
| Kill any target with the broken pool cue | A kill using a snapped cue picked up in the bar |
| Execute a biker with a context execution | Grab a biker, move him to a wall or the fridge, use the prompt |
| Kill any target with a thrown cleaver | A kill scored by the cleaver as a thrown weapon, not a melee swing |
| Kill three targets in Chapter 1 | Three ordinary residents killed outside the bar |
Clearing the Rabbit in Red without missing anyone
The full-clear challenge is the one people fail, because two civilians survive the main brawl and hide in the back of the building. Work the outside first, then seal the bar so nobody gets out.
Pool cue and cleaver kills: where the weapons are
Both weapon challenges live inside the bar, so pick them up before the room empties out. Turn right after entering and there is a pool cue near the entrance, with another on the stage area. Michael snaps it automatically when you take it, and that broken cue can kill any target you like, biker or civilian.
The cleaver sits in the kitchen on the left side of the pub. Grab it, aim with the right mouse button or the equivalent controller trigger, and throw it at a target’s head. The kill has to come from the throw itself, so do not soften anyone up with the cleaver in melee first. Kitchens in the houses further out can also hold one, though placement there varies between saves.
Tip: Save the armed biker or a slow-moving civilian as your cleaver target. Anyone already sprinting is a harder throw than it looks.
Shove and context execution on the bikers
The shove challenge is the fastest of the six. Sprint straight at a biker or hit one with a thrown bottle and press the shove prompt when it appears. He only has to stumble off balance, and killing him afterward is optional.
The context execution needs a grab first. Take hold of a biker, push him toward a flat surface until the wall-pin prompt shows up, then trigger the execution. The group of bikers outside the bar gives you the most space to do this. If you burn that opportunity, the fridge inside the building works as a second execution point.
Killing three residents outside the bar
The last challenge sends you into the surrounding area once the Rabbit in Red is finished. Residents scatter quickly the moment they see Michael, so build Stalk and close in from behind rather than charging down a street.
Step into the shadows to enter shadow mode, which lets you scan through walls and pin down where people are hiding. One resident is near the workshop and phone line, a second, Robert Johnson, is in the workshop area itself, and a third is inside a house near the silo. The houses along Copper Lane past the gas station are another reliable cluster if you want three quick targets in one spot.
How to confirm a challenge registered
Each challenge pops an on-screen completion notice the moment its condition is met, and the chapter’s challenge list marks it as done. A missing pop-up usually comes down to one of a few things. The full-clear challenge stays open if anyone is still breathing in the toilets, makeup room, or kitchen. The cleaver challenge does not count a melee hit. The context execution only registers from the prompt at a wall or the fridge, not from a standard grab kill.
You do not have to clear all six in one attempt, so if you leave the bar early and lose the full-clear, replaying Chapter 1 from the start is faster than trying to salvage it. The game is currently in early access, and a handful of challenge conditions across the campaign can behave inconsistently, which makes a fresh chapter restart the more dependable fix than reloading a checkpoint.
