Harvesting Windstones is a low-level gathering quest that sends you out of Thendal Village and into the grove northwest of it to pick glowing blue crystals off the ground. There is no puzzle and no boss, but the nodes are spread thin enough that players often wander the same patch of grass twice and miss the ones tucked against the mountain.

Quick answer: Accept the quest from Dale the Collector, run northwest into the blue quest zone, and interact with 15 Raw Windstone nodes to fill the Windstone Cluster counter, then return to Dale.

Where Raw Windstone nodes spawn in Thendal Grove

The gatherable object is called Raw Windstone, and it looks like a light-blue crystal shard poking out of the dirt with a faint sparkle on it. Looting one awards a Windstone Cluster. The crystals sit in a handful of predictable places:

  • Along the base of the mountain wall that borders the grove
  • Out in the open grassy fields between the village and the cliffs
  • Behind and beside pine trees near the treeline
  • On the cliffside paths that run up the edge of the grove
  • Around neutral NPCs such as Elador Skymorne, who stands near one of the later nodes

The mountain wall is the highest-value sweep. Crystals there blend into the rock, and it is the stretch most players skip while circling the open field.

How to collect all 15 Windstone Clusters

Talk to Dale the Collector in Thendal Village and accept Harvesting Windstones. The objective tracker will show Windstone Cluster 0/15 once the quest is in your log.

Open the map, note the highlighted area northwest of the village, and run straight into it. The first nodes tend to show up quickly once you cross into the grove.
Work the mountain edge first. Hug the rock face and interact with each Raw Windstone you pass; the counter ticks up by one per node with no cast interruption unless you get pulled into combat.
Cut back across the open grass in a wide loop. This is where the middle chunk of the count usually fills in, and it lets you spot crystals from a distance thanks to the sparkle effect.
Finish along the treeline and behind the pines. Nodes hide directly behind trunks, so circle anything that blocks your view rather than running past it.
If you are still short, do a second lap in the opposite direction. Nodes respawn, and other players in a busy grove will have cleared some of what you saw on the first pass.

Mobs that interrupt gathering

The grove is not empty. Juvenile Vuldren wander the lower slopes, and an Ensnared Ursa can be sitting close enough to a crystal that reaching for it drops you straight into combat. Both are manageable at the level the quest is offered, but it is faster to kill whatever aggros you and then gather than to try to loot mid-fight.

Turn in the quest and confirm it completed

When the fifteenth crystal goes into your bags, an on-screen notification reads Objective Complete: Windstone Cluster: 15/15 and the entry in your quest log flips to complete. That is the confirmation to look for before you start running back.

Head back down the path to Thendal Village and speak to Dale the Collector again. His dialog shows the reward list, including the Windstone item and Pet Collecting for Beginners. Click Complete Quest to close it out.

Pair it with Reading the Ley Lines

Reading the Ley Lines covers the same stretch of Thendal Grove, and Yala Windwatcher, who takes that turn-in, stands inside the gathering route. Picking up both before you leave the village means one lap of the grove clears two quest logs instead of one.

Other nearby NPCs, including Delfinia Gale and Glynde Ryk, hand out work in the same area, so it is worth checking for exclamation marks around the village before you head northwest. The grove is small, and a single well-planned loop through it saves a lot of backtracking.
