Cross-platform play is live in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam. Players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S can drop into the same 50v50 servers, and you can also choose to stay on platform-locked servers if you would rather not mix with other hardware.

Quick answer: Yes. Crossplay is supported at launch across PC (Steam, Microsoft Store, and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. To play only with your own platform, filter the in-game server browser for a “PC only” or “console only” server. Full details are laid out in the official Hell Let Loose FAQ.

Which platforms can play together

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is a current-generation release, so cross-platform matchmaking is limited to PC and the newest consoles. Older machines are not part of the pool at all.

Skipping last-gen hardware keeps the dense jungle terrain, helicopters, boats, and tunnel systems running without compromising the tactical scale the mode is built around.

How to turn crossplay off using server tags

Crossplay is not forced on you. Every server is clearly labeled so you can pick the crowd you want before joining. There are three server types.

Server tagWho can join
Cross-platform playPC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S together
PC onlySteam and Microsoft Store players
Console onlyPS5 and Xbox Series X|S players

Open the server browser, look at the tag on each server, and pick the one that matches your preference. Console players who want a level field can stick to console-only servers to avoid facing mouse-and-keyboard aim, while PC players can do the same in reverse.

Server owners also control this directly. They can enable cross-platform play and choose exactly which platforms are allowed on their server, so a community can run a mixed, PC-only, or console-only environment as it sees fit.

Console aim assist in mixed servers

To help close the gap between controller and mouse input on shared servers, console players have access to an aim-assist system. That means you can join a cross-platform server on PS5 or Xbox and still compete without giving up the option of a platform-locked lobby.

Cross-progression and DLC limits

Playing together is one thing. Carrying your rank, unlocks, and purchases between platforms is more restricted, and it comes down to account ecosystems rather than the crossplay system itself.

  • Progress carries over within the same ecosystem. A Microsoft Store PC account and Xbox Series X|S share progression.
  • Progress does not transfer between Steam and PlayStation 5, because those accounts use separate infrastructures.
  • DLC stays tied to the storefront where you bought it. A cosmetic pack purchased on Steam will not appear on a PS5 account.

Note: if cross-progression matters to you, buy on platforms inside the same ecosystem so your unlocks follow you.

Why crossplay matters for a 50v50 shooter

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam runs on large teams, with two sides of up to 50 players each fighting across six maps as the US Armed Forces or the North Vietnamese Army. Battles of that size need a healthy population to stay full, so combining PC and console players keeps queues shorter and servers active.

A shared pool also removes the barrier for squads split across hardware. If some of your group plays on PS5 or Xbox while you are on PC, you can now deploy in the same battle instead of being separated by platform.

The cross-platform system was tested publicly before release during an open crossplay playtest on the Đắk Tô Airfield map, which ran across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. That test fed into the launch build that shipped on August 13, 2026, developed by Expression Games and published by Team17 on Unreal Engine 5.
