Helldivers 2 Devoid of Liberty Update: Everything New (7.0.0)

Two Illuminate enemies, a Level 300 cap, reworked SEAF allies, and the Warhammer 40,000 Castellan's Creed Warbond all arrive in patch 7.0.0.

Two Illuminate enemies, a Level 300 cap, reworked SEAF allies, and the Warhammer 40,000 Castellan’s Creed Warbond all arrive in patch 7.0.0.

The Devoid of Liberty update pushes Helldivers 2 into the Void, an Illuminate-controlled frontier crawling with mutated foes. Patch 7.0.0 focuses squarely on the squids, adding two new enemies, a big jump to the level cap, a full rework of your SEAF allies, and a Warhammer 40,000 crossover Warbond called Castellan’s Creed.

Quick answer: Devoid of Liberty adds the Wretch and Crusher enemies, raises the level cap from 150 to 300 with 15 new ranks, drops SEAF troops directly into missions, doubles the emote wheel from 4 to 8 slots, and introduces the 1,500 Super Credit Castellan’s Creed Warbond with 16 rewards across three pages.

Illuminate invasion and new missions around the Void

The core of this update is the Illuminate pushing into planets bordering the Void. One of the active fronts is Rirga Bay, a dense city where fighting happens in tight, close-quarters spaces. Expect to hold streets and buildings rather than open ground.

Alongside classic Illuminate objectives like destroying motherships, rescuing survivors, and defending against invasion fleets, the campaign brings in fresh mission types. You can now hunt down Illuminate spies, run data reconnaissance, seize control of enemy gateways, and explore Illuminate structures.

New Illuminate enemies: Wretch and Crusher

Two new horrors emerge from the Void, and each one needs a different approach. Aiming for the head will not cut it against either of them.

The Wretch is a fast, nimble mass of limbs armed with two fleshy scythes. It travels in packs, leaps several meters to close distance, and tries to surround and pressure you at close range. Its weak point is its limbs, not its head. Blow off the gangly arms to keep it down for good, and stay with your squad so it cannot flank you.

The Crusher is the opposite. It is a slow, heavy brute swinging a massive club, and it regenerates health whenever it is not taking sustained damage. That makes it hard to bring down if you keep switching targets. Its weak spot is the triangular metal helmet, which can be knocked off to expose a very vulnerable head. Precise, ammo-efficient weapons like the Autocannon work well, and the new Bolt Pistol from the Warbond can pop the helmet in two shots.

SEAF allies now drop into missions

Your Super Earth Armed Forces allies have been reworked and can appear as a planet modifier. Instead of just wandering the map, SEAF troops now drop in during combat to back up any Helldiver who is getting overwhelmed.

They come with updated visuals and improved behavior, carry a mix of normal and support weapons such as Heavy Machine Guns, and can inject you with Stims from a Stim pistol when your health runs low. They are still cannon fodder, but they can hold a line or buy you time as a distraction. You can also give them a quick morale boost by emoting near them or hugging a squadmate.

Level cap raised to 300 and expanded emote wheel

The biggest quality-of-life change is the higher ceiling on progression. The rank system now extends past Level 150 with 15 new ranks, carrying you all the way to Level 300. Each new rank has its own title and icon, so there are fresh titles to show off to your fellow divers.

The emote wheel has also doubled in capacity, going from 4 slots to 8. That leaves room for twice as many emotes without swapping loadouts between drops.

Castellan’s Creed Warbond (Warhammer 40,000)

The new Legendary Warbond is themed around the Imperium of Warhammer 40,000, styled after the Astra Militarum. It holds 16 rewards spread across three pages. The headline gear includes the R/40-K Hot-Shot Marksman Rifle, the G/40-K Melta Mine, the P/40-K Bolt Pistol, and the Meltagun stratagem.

Two armor sets, the TG-122 Demo-Trooper and TG-8 Sharpshooter, carry the True Grit passive. That passive increases support weapon reload speed by 30 percent and improves weapon ergonomics to cut down on handling drag. You also unlock the Still Standing title along with the City Fighter’s Resolve and Camo Cloak player cards.

Note: Castellan’s Creed costs 1,500 Super Credits, which is more than the standard Warbonds that ship with updates.

Balance changes and quality-of-life fixes

Beyond the headline additions, 7.0.0 tunes several weapons and systems. The GATER mobile rig gets a more powerful Super V48 Interceptor engine for better speed and handling, and the R-2124 Constitution now uses stripper clips, reloading a full clip when the magazine is empty.

Assisted reload has been simplified. You can now assist a reload as long as either the wielder or the reloader has the correct backpack, so you keep your backpack and can still get help when a teammate is nearby. Loadout icons were also updated, with a backpack icon on stratagem weapons that need one and a drop-weapon icon on those that cannot be reloaded.

  • Short magazine attachments and several secondaries received more spare and starting magazines.
  • Eagle Napalm Airstrike explosion radius increased from 8m to 10m with a wider bomb spread.
  • MD-17 Anti-Tank Mines demolition strength raised from 30 to 40, letting them destroy colony walls and bug holes.
  • Heavy landing animation duration cut by about 40 percent for faster recovery.
  • Stim input is now remembered briefly and fires once the action becomes allowed, reducing dead inputs.
  • Blocking an Illuminate Veracitor melee with a ballistic shield now ragdolls you instead of launching you into orbit, and the shield breaks after around 15 direct hits.

The patch also clears out a batch of crashes, including a rare crash when dropping the core drill, one tied to spreading fire, and a crash-on-boot on PS5 and Xbox after resetting settings to default with no prior saves. The full list of tuning and fixes runs long, covering everything from mortar sentry targeting to weapon stat display decimals.

If you have not logged in for a while, Devoid of Liberty is a good reason to redeploy. The Void frontier changes how you plan a mission, and the Wretch and Crusher both reward squads that manage crowds and focus their fire instead of chasing headshots.
