Helmut’s Island Adventure is a side quest in the creature-catching open-world RPG set on the continent of Idyll, and it is one of the better showcases of the game’s Twining mechanic. You do not fight your way through it. You disguise yourself as a slime in a helmet, get kidnapped by a dragon, and babysit its kid.

Quick answer: Catch a Lv. 40 Helmut in northern Russet Highlands with an Anipod Pro, twine with it to trigger the Scar-faced Helgon cutscene, then solve the island temple’s pressure plate and circuit puzzle.

Where Helmut’s Island Adventure starts in Russet Highlands

The quest sits in your Log under the questline The Legend of Helmets and Helgons, alongside the clue entry “Dragon Legends I”. Track it from there and the game drops a marker in the northern part of Russet Highlands, close to Beryline Vale.

Russet Highlands is part of the Breezy Plains region and its sub-zones run from Lv. 44 up to Lv. 50, so a party comfortable around that range will have no trouble reaching the start point. The wild Helmut you need spawns near bushes at the marker.

What you need before you start

  • At least one Anipod Pro to catch the wild Helmut.
  • The quest tracked in your Log so the marker and the sparkling trail path appear.
  • Access to the Deflection skill, the purple energy ability used on the temple’s power node.
  • Free party space, since the caught Helmut has to join your team before you can twine with it.

Capture and twine with a Helmut

Open the map and head to the northern stretch of Russet Highlands near Beryline Vale. The quest marker shows a live distance readout, and a glittering trail on the ground points the way if you lose it.

Find the wild Lv. 40 Helmut hiding in the bushes at the marker and throw an Anipod Pro at it. A successful catch adds it straight to your party.
Twine with the Helmut. Your Pathfinder turns into the blue slime with the silver, gold-crested helmet, and that form is the whole point here. Twining is what lets you talk to other Helmuts and be mistaken for one.
At the large rock, talk with Helpful Helmut. It warns that leaving the woods is too dangerous, advises you to remain there, and indicates the precise place where a different Helmut was taken the previous day.

Walk to the target spot on the cliffside. The cutscene fires automatically, a Scar-faced Helgon dives in, grabs you, and carries you out over the sea.

The Scar-faced Helgon’s demand on the island

You land on a beach and the dragon gets to the point. It wants you, as a Helmut, to keep its child company on a treasure hunt. Do the job properly and it will let you go.

The objective then flips to “Disguise yourself as a Helmut bestie.” Do not untwine at this point. The Jawling only cooperates with what it believes is a Helmut.

Open the map and you will see you are now on an isolated island still inside the Breezy Plains region. Follow the beach to the quest marker to find Jawling waiting near the temple entrance, where it greets you with freshly learned Helmspeak and invites you to hunt for treasure.

Temple gate puzzle solution

Jawling leads you to a locked gate. Two pressure plates control a pair of moving iron crate platforms, and a power node finishes a green energy circuit once the platforms are lined up. The order matters.

Stand on the left pressure plate. The left iron crate platform slides into position and stays there.
Move to the right pressure plate and step on it. The right platform shifts to meet the first one, closing the gap in the circuit’s path.
Aim the Deflection skill at the glowing power node. The purple energy runs through the completed green circuit and the temple gate opens.

If the circuit does not light up, look at which platform has not moved before recasting. The skill only works once both crates are in place.

The ancient mural and befriending Jawling

Inside, the treasure turns out to be a mural. It shows Helmets and Jawlings living side by side, with ancient writing that reads, “The friendship between Helmets and Jawlings shall last forever.” Jawling takes this as proof that its species has always had Helmut toys.

Talk to Jawling afterwards. It says it has dreamed of that scene since it was small, including an Infergon that later vanished from the dream. Explain what a friend is and it declares you its first Helmut friend, calling that the most precious treasure it has found.

Head back outside to the Scar-faced Helgon. The dragon had prepared its own gift, but its son would rather leave with you. It agrees, on the condition that Jawling comes home to visit, and stays behind to watch over the nest.

Helmut’s Island Adventure rewards

Open the treasure chest that appears after the final conversation. That is the action that closes the quest and pays out.

You will know it worked when the chest reward screen lists all four items and the Log entry under The Legend of Helmets and Helgons no longer shows an active objective. From there, the questline continues into the follow-up clue, Dragon Legends II, so it is worth keeping an eye on the same Log section rather than untracking it.
