Escaping as a civilian in Halloween: The Game means preparing a route, gathering the right items, and clearing a short set of tasks before Michael Myers can shut it down. There are five ways out, and each one asks for different tools and a different amount of setup.
Quick answer: The Storm Cellar is the fastest exit and needs only an Escape Key or Bolt Cutters. The Police Wagon needs no items at all, while the Car and the Gate demand the most preparation. To send anyone out, you must first discover the escape, finish its tasks, then pick the escape option when talking to a resident.

Escape routes and what each one needs
All five exits are placed at random spots on the map each match, and every route has a limited capacity. No single exit can carry the whole neighbourhood, so plan on using more than one if you want to save every resident.
| Escape route | Items required | Setup notes |
|---|---|---|
| Storm Cellar | Escape Key or Bolt Cutters (plus any melee weapon if boarded) | Fastest option; two spawn per map |
| Police Wagon | None | Takes about six minutes to arrive |
| Car (Sedan) | Repair Kit, Gas Can, Sedan Key | Two mini-games; hardest on items |
| Gate | Fuse, Escape Key or Bolt Cutters | Two mini-games; fuse is very rare |
| Police Car | Police Car Keys (Repair Kit if damaged) | Depends on Michael killing an officer |

Storm Cellars sit near the sides or backs of houses and look like covered basement hatches. Two spawn on every map, and once you find one it stays pinged on your map for the rest of the match.

Police Wagon escape (no items needed)
The Police Wagon is the only exit that requires zero items, and you can start setting it up from the very beginning of a match. Expect roughly six minutes before it actually rolls into the centre of the map, guarded by two armed officers. There is no mini-game once you reach it, so you just run to the back to leave.

Car (Sedan) escape
The Sedan is one of the trickier exits to find. Look for the car parked with its hood propped open. It needs three separate items and two mini-games before it runs, so treat it as a longer-term project and work on it as a group.
The Repair Kit and Sedan Key can turn up in small drawers inside houses, while the Gas Can tends to spawn outdoors. All three locations are randomised per match.

Gate escape (hardest to prepare)
The Gate sits on the outer edge of the map, so circle the outskirts to find it. It is the most demanding route because it needs a Fuse, one of the rarest items in the game, plus two mini-games to open. The Fuse can appear as loot or be handed to you by a resident once you convince them Michael is loose.

Police Car escape
The Police Car depends entirely on Michael killing one of the officers you call in, which makes it easy for a Michael player to deny. The keys can also open the boot for a firearm, so it can double as a way to arm yourself.

How to confirm an escape worked
Preparing a route only opens it. To actually send someone out, you have to discover the escape, finish all of its tasks, then talk to a resident and choose the escape dialogue option. A rescued resident leaves through the exit, and you score points for each one who makes it.
Every exit holds only a small group at once, capped at a handful of residents including the NPCs you save, so a full lobby usually cannot leave through a single route. Common ways an escape fails include Michael closing an opened cellar, the Sedan or Police Car being wrecked and needing another Repair Kit, no Fuse spawning for the Gate, and Michael simply not killing an officer for the Police Car keys.
Because item and exit spawns are randomised every match, the smartest plan is to split your team early, scout for exits, and start on the Storm Cellar or Police Wagon while others chase down the parts for the Car or the Gate.
