When you think of the top computer processor manufacturers, only two brands come to mind – Intel and AMD. While Intel has been popular since the 1970s, in recent years it has been facing stiff competition from AMD, thanks to the latter's excellent offerings.

AMD processors are generally considered more cost-effective and deliver better graphical performance. However, sometimes problems can occur with these processors. For instance, you may run into the 'AMDRyzenMasterDriverV22 Failed To Start' error. This is quite a common issue, so let's take a look at how you can resolve it.

1. Check For Windows Updates

Sometimes issues can crop up if your system does not have the latest updates. In such cases, you may be able to fix the problem by checking for and installing the latest updates.

  1. Open the 'Settings' page from the Start menu on your PC.
  2. When the page opens, click on the 'Windows Update' option that appears on the left panel at the bottom.
  1. On the Windows Update page, click on the 'Check For Updates' button on the right. If updates are available, Windows will begin downloading and installing them.

Reboot your PC after updating and hopefully the error won't appear again. If it does, you will need to try something else.

2. Update Your Graphics Driver

If the issue is not due to missing Windows updates, it might be because your graphics driver is out of date. You can try updating it to the latest version and see if that helps.

  1. Click on the '^' icon that appears on the right side of the taskbar to view various running services.
  1. You will find currently active services here, including the AMD Software graphics driver service.
  1. Right-click on the AMD Software icon and it will show you three options - open the software, edit the video profile, and hide the system tray.
  1. Click on the 'Open AMD Software' option to launch the software.
  1. The AMD Software program will launch, allowing you to check for the latest graphics driver. By default, the 'Home' tab will open when you launch the program.
  1. On the right side, you will find the 'Drivers and Software' section. It will show you the graphics driver version. Click on the 'Check For Updates' button here.
  1. If updates are available, the program will download and install them after seeking your permission. Once the latest driver is installed, restart your PC and check whether the issue is still there.

3. Delete Registry Entry

Conflicts between two different versions of the AMD Software can often result in the 'AMDRyzenMasterDriverV22 Failed To Start' error. To fix that, you will need to go to the system registry and delete the older version after creating a system restore point.

Creating a System Restore Point

  1. Open the Start menu and type system restore point.
  2. Click on the first item 'Create A Restore Point' that appears in the search results.
  1. A pop-up box will appear where you can select the drive where the restore point will be created. Click on the drive you prefer and then on the 'Create' button.
  1. Clicking on the 'Create' button will bring up a pop-up asking you to provide a name for the restore point. Enter any name you like, preferably one that will help you remember when the restore point was created, and click on the 'Create' button.
  1. Windows will show a notification informing you that the restore point was created successfully. Click on the 'Close' button and then on the 'OK' button.

Deleting the Registry Entry

After creating the system restore point, you can delete the registry entry for the older software version.

  1. Open the Start menu and type Regedit to bring up the Registry Editor.
  2. Click on the Registry Editor to open it once it appears.
  1. In the address bar of the Registry Editor, type in the following address Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001`\Services\. Alternatively, just copy and paste it into the address bar and press the 'Enter' key.
  1. Next, look for any entries that have the name 'RyzenMasterDriver'. If you find more than a single entry, delete them leaving only the latest one.
  2. Reboot your computer after deleting the older entries.

4. Run System File Checker

You may be running into the 'AMDRyzenMasterDriverV22 Failed To Start' error because of corrupted system files. Sometimes this issue can be resolved using the System File Checker utility.

  1. Open the Start menu and type in command prompt or cmd to search for command prompt.
  2. When it appears, click on the 'Run As Administrator' option on the right side and click on the 'Yes' button in the User Account panel to launch command prompt.
  1. In the command prompt window, type sfc/scannow and press the 'Enter' key.
  1. This will start the system scan. Wait until the scan reaches 100%. If there are any corrupted files, your system will try to fix it. Once done, restart your PC.
  2. In case the above did not work, you can try DISM commands to fix the error. Again launch command prompt as administrator to do so.
  3. First, type Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth and press the 'Enter' key to run the system health check. It will look for and fix any corruption issues that may be causing the problem.
  1. Follow the above command with this one Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth and press the 'Enter' key. Windows will perform a scan to identify and fix issues when you do so.
  1. When the scan completes, type in the last command Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and press the 'Enter' key to complete the process.

5. Use AMD AutoDetect Utility

AMD AutoDetect Utility is an application developed by AMD that runs on your system and identifies the most suitable AMD drivers for it. You can download it from the official AMD website and run it on your system to try and fix the 'AMDRyzenMasterDriverV22 Failed To Start' error.

  1. Visit the AMD support website and click on the 'Download Windows Drivers' button.
  1. Save the file to your PC and wait until the download completes. Once it is downloaded, double-click to open it.
  1. To begin the installation, click on the 'Install' button and wait until the application is installed.
  1. As soon as the installation is complete, the AutoDetect utility will start searching for the latest drivers for your system.
  1. If it finds a suitable driver, it will display the driver version available. Click on the 'Install' button at the bottom to install it.

6. Perform a System Restore

The System Restore functionality in Windows lets you restore your PC to an earlier point in time. You can use it to revert your computer to a state when the 'AMDRyzenMasterDriverV22 Failed To Start' error did not appear.

Note: To perform a system restore, you should have created a restore point earlier before this error started appearing. If there is no restore point, you will not be able to use this method and may need to reinstall the OS to fix the error.

We've explained how you can create a System Restore Point in Windows above. If you have a restore point set up, here is how you can perform a system restore.

  1. Open the Control Panel on your PC and click on the 'Recovery' option.
  1. This will take you to the System Restore page. Click on the 'Open System Restore' option.
  1. When the System Restore box opens, click on the 'Next' button to proceed.
  1. On the next page, you can select the restore point you created earlier. If there are multiple restore points, you will find all of them here. Click on the 'Next' button after selecting the desired restore point.
  1. Finally, click on the 'Finish' button to complete the process. When you restart your computer next time, it will be restored to the earlier point before the error occurred.

The 'AMDRyzenMasterDriverV22 Failed To Start' error can occur due to a wide variety of causes, including corrupted system files, outdated drivers, or missing Windows updates. Since it is not easy to identify the exact cause of the error easily, we recommend trying out the fixes mentioned above one by one.

Hopefully, one of these will help you get rid of the error and allow you to use your PC without any worry. On the other hand, if none of the methods work, consider formatting and performing a clean install of Windows after backing up your data.
