A practical breakdown of Hulk’s kit, his Gamma Rage state, and the combos that push opponents into the corner.

Hulk hits hardest up close, and his whole game plan bends toward building rage until he becomes faster, tougher, and far more dangerous. He carries a 5-star ease-of-use rating in Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, so most of his damage comes from simple, reliable strings rather than tight execution. Exiled to the Savage Land and wearing dinosaur bone armor, this version of Bruce Banner is built around one idea, which is turning anger into raw power.

Quick answer: Fill the Gamma Gauge with Gamma Spark or by taking hits, and when it reaches level 3, press Gamma Spark again to enter Gamma Rage for faster dashes, stronger skills, and an unblockable charged Command Normal.

Gamma Gauge and Gamma Rage explained

The Gamma Gauge sits at the bottom of the screen, and everything about Hulk revolves around filling it. You build it two ways, either by using Gamma Spark or by enduring enemy attacks. Because taking hits counts, Hulk can turn defense into an advantage instead of a liability.

When the gauge reaches level 3, pressing Gamma Spark again puts Hulk into Gamma Rage. In this state he moves more freely, absorbs punishment better, and hits harder, with noticeably faster dashes. His Command Normal can also be charged up and becomes unblockable during Rage, which forces opponents to move rather than sit and block.

Tip: Gamma Spark serves double duty as both a gauge builder and an armor activation, so it is safe to throw out when you expect to trade hits.

Best Hulk combos

Light attack combo

Hulk’s Light string is a three-hit combo where the third punch slams the opponent into the ground. That knockdown buys you a few seconds to set up a follow-up, so treat it as a way to freeze an opponent in place rather than pure damage.

Medium attack combo

The Medium string opens with a kick, moves into a ground smash, and finishes with Thunder Clap. It is strong, but the last hit pushes the enemy away, so keep that spacing in mind before you commit.

Heavy attack combo

The Heavy string mirrors that shape. It starts with a punch, goes into a ground smash, then ends with Hulk hitting the opponent using a boulder. Like the Medium combo, it sends enemies flying away from you.

Rampage and Gamma Bomb

Rampage is Hulk’s Super Skill and it costs only 50 Skill Gauge. On its own it is a heavy punch that throws opponents away. Inside Gamma Rage it changes character, adding extra hits as Hulk grabs an opponent and slams them around, a clear nod to 2012’s The Avengers.

Gamma Bomb is the Ultimate Skill and costs 100 Skill Gauge. Hulk leaps upward and then crashes down with enough force to wreck everything below him. There is an important detail here, which is that using Gamma Bomb while you are not in Gamma Rage instantly fills the Gamma Level, giving you a fast route into Rage.

How to play Hulk in a match

Hulk is at his best in close-quarters brawls, but he is not helpless at range. Giant Stomp and Thunder Clap both reach out to poke opponents who try to keep distance, and the shockwave from Thunder Clap doubles as a counter to incoming attacks and projectiles.

When an opponent zones you out, use Skull Crush and Violent Charge to both deal damage and rush across the screen. These skills are your main way to erase space and get back into the range where Hulk dominates.

Through all of this, keep one goal in front of everything else, which is filling the Gamma Gauge. Feed it with Gamma Spark, accept a few hits when it is safe, and once it maxes out, drop into Gamma Rage to close the round with buffed, faster attacks. Hulk rewards patience early and aggression the moment his rage is ready.
