Hytale Chapter 1 has a locked-in launch. Hypixel Studios confirmed the date on September 24, 2026, alongside a short teaser that showed off new biomes, dungeons, and the chapter’s headline boss fight. The update drops nine months after Hytale entered Early Access on PC in January.
Quick answer: Chapter 1 releases on October 12, 2026 on PC. No launch time has been announced yet.
Release status: Confirmed for October 12, 2026
The date is official and comes straight from Hypixel Studios. Chapter 1 is a PC release, in line with where Hytale currently lives in Early Access. A specific unlock time and time zone have not been shared, so treat October 12 as the confirmed day without a set hour.
If you want to be ready on day one, you can buy Hytale from the official Hytale site. There are three editions to pick from.
| Edition | Price |
|---|---|
| Standard | $11.34 |
| Supporter | $19.86 |
| Cursebreaker (Founder’s Edition) | $39.71 |
What Chapter 1 adds
No update since Hytale’s Early Access debut has brought a larger content drop, and this one moves the sandbox further toward RPG gameplay. Goblins are at the heart of the chapter, which begins in the Forgotten Temple. Hypixel intends for the temple to serve as the gathering point for upcoming Early Access chapters. You can play solo or in co-op.
The first dungeon and multi-phase boss
Chapter 1 adds Hytale’s first dungeon built by hand, with a final encounter that pits you against the towering goblin machine Gobliterator in several stages. The Encounter Manager controls its boss phases, incoming waves, and arena shifts. The fight has three phases, and there’s also a distinct hard mode version.
The Goblin Breach world event
After you begin the chapter at the Forgotten Temple, a Goblin Breach may open a temporary portal at a location in your world. Enter it to fall into an unstable piece of Orbis, where goblins occupy the biomes and the Void continues to spread. The region regenerates whenever you visit, and the Void eventually forces you out; each trip is therefore a race to explore and collect loot.
Goblins come in several combat roles, and not all of them are hostile. One even runs a shop.
| Goblin | Combat role |
|---|---|
| Scrapper | Light melee fighter that swarms targets |
| Miner | Heavy melee fighter with a leap attack |
| Guardian | Armored defender with a shield |
| Lobber | Ranged attacker with explosives |
| Burner | Ranged attacker with a flamethrower |
| Feastmaster | Elite that charges and calls in reinforcements |
Rune Abilities and goblin gadgets
The chapter’s major combat addition is Rune Abilities. Ability runes provide the core skill, while modifier runes alter its behavior; both are equipped in a Runebinder’s Effigy. Elements interact with one another and the environment, so drenching an enemy before striking it with lightning can make the hit stronger. Hypixel is aiming to release about six ability runes alongside a similar number of modifiers.
Goblin inventions double as the chapter’s traversal kit, including a Scrap Drill, Spyglass, Scrap Glider, Rocket Boots, and a Hookshot. Chapter 1 also adds basic boats, carryable objects like chests and explosive barrels, real transparency for stained glass and windows, and a chapter screen that tracks your progress.
The $15,000 Gobliterator challenge
On the day the date was announced, founder and Game Director Simon Collins-Laflamme offered $15,000 to the first streamer to defeat the Gobliterator under strict conditions. He wrote: “I’ll give $15,000 to the first streamer who takes down the Gobliterator in hard mode, in hardcore, without armor, potions, or glitches (iron weapons from Exploration Mode are permitted). The run needs to be streamed so we can review the VOD. Play fair, bro.”
The conditions for the payout are as follows:
- Solo run, on hard mode, in a hardcore world.
- No armor, no potions, no glitches.
- Iron weapons from Exploration Mode are permitted.
- The run must be legitimate throughout; using Creative Mode to bypass the route into the dungeon is disallowed.
- Stream the attempt and make its VOD available for verification.
You may retry as often as you like, but every attempt must be legitimate from the outset. With the challenge set in a hardcore world, a failed run will probably mean making the entire journey back to the dungeon again. Collins-Laflamme said he’d publish the complete rules before launch, including answers to edge cases such as whether food qualifies as a potion.
Trying Chapter 1 before launch
Some Chapter 1 content is available now in an unfinished state. The Update 7 pre-release, available since September 3, includes the initial batch of chapter content, most of which currently requires Creative Mode. To enable it, launch Hytale, open Settings, and turn on Pre-Release.
The Rune Ability system is still changing a lot before release. The current pre-release build ships five runes rather than the final set, so what you test now is a snapshot and not the finished feature. The full chapter arrives October 12.
